Windows 7 Build 7057 Labeled RC1, Leaked and Available for Download

    Posted: 12 Mar 2009
Windows 7 Build 7057, a development milestone officially labeled as Release Candidate 1, has followed earlier releases of the next iteration of the Windows client to torrent trackers. At this point in time, Windows 7 Build 7057 is up for grabs for all users with a BitTorrent client, just as the previous Win 7 Build, namely 7048, which made it out of Redmond and into the wild. However, 7057 is not served from any of the Microsoft official channels, as the software giant is keeping mum on the development and availability of the first and only RC of Windows 7.

Delivered with the following build string 7057.0.x86fre.winmain.090305-2000, Windows 7 Build 7057 was compiled on March 5, 2009, almost two months after Microsoft launched the public Beta of the operating system. During the installation process of 7057 users will be able to feast their eyes on the first mention of the RC label in relation to Windows 7. The End User License Agreement for Windows 7 Build 7057 reads: “Microsoft Windows 7 Operating System Release Candidate 1,” as you can see from the screenshots included with this article.

Yaaaaaawn, Softpedia usual sensationalist hype trying to pass off build 7057 as the official RC1.

actually it should be labeled as a RC1 branch build
since it is from the RC branch and is being compiled from there there are technically right and wrong...
wrong as this will confuse people that this *is* the RC1 build everyone wants
and right because its is technically a RC1 milestone build which is entitled to the RC name...
what it should be said though is that this is not an *official* RC build and like the betas builds 7000, 7022, 7025 (i still have a grudge with pcbeta for not even letting a pip about how they were going to release it..) 7032 and 7048 and countless others belonged to the beta branch but only one (build 7000) was the *official* beta and this build 7057 is not the *official* RC1....
hope it can clear it up for you guys...:)

What are the odds that the 'official' RC will be build 7077!

I don't think they could get to 7777, but that would be nifty.

So, as they compile a build at the end of each day - how long till we get to 7077 from (the build day) 7057?

7077 may not be the build number when the final RC is ready but they can use any number they want how about 7070 or even 7777

AS for release date the 10th April is a date that keeps coming up with 7-10 days before for Technet and MSDN

    Pao,

The only people that 'really' know when the RC release will occur is Microsoft. There are so many dates flying arounfd at the moment for when RC will 'officially' be released (according to so called sources close to Microsoft) that all this is causing is total confusion. That is why it is simply best to just sit back and wait. I hope you can too! This is getting so far out of hand with all the leaks ... certain *builds* are given to beta testers for their testing purposes, such as Developers.

I will continue on with build 7000 and report back with my findindings, as I won't be goaded into downloading from an un-official torrent.

The rest of you can enjoy as you see fit.

Those torrents come from .ISO files that Microsoft gives out to people. Microsoft secretly wants the builds leaked to keep interest peaked.

I find you calling any of my releases fake or tampered with offensive.
