Ok, I read the C-Net article. I have Windows 7 on a 3 month old Toshiba laptop (can't tell you all the specs right now). This is so ridiculous, I am a user, not an IT professional, I should not have to go through all these changes to fix a problem that I should not be having in the first place. My computer was running just fine until yesterday, morning. The night before when I turned it off, I noticed it was updating. I thought that was odd, because thought I had checked that I wanted to do updates manually. Then in the morning it gave me the BSOD, kept trying to boot and wouldn't, and I had to use the boot disk and use system restore to go back to where it was the day before. Then this morning the same thing happened. I have to leave it on in sleep mode or boot it from the disk and use system restore every time. It was just fine before, it's practically brand new, and I didn't do anything to it. It keeps promting me to install an update, and I keep postponing it because I don't know if it will fix it or make it worse. Also I haven't added or downloaded anything new in weeks. I hope they fix this pronto, and don't tell me to type in CH$ or whatever and do all kinds of ridiculous things I don't understand, either!!!
