How surprising...
Source -Coincidentally, today, February 22nd, 2010 is Windows 7’s fourth month of general availability, as the operating system hit the shelves on October 22nd, 2009. A research study from Janco Associates indicates that the latest iteration of the Windows client is simply crashing its predecessor in terms of the adoption rate. Statistics released by Janco reveal that Windows 7 uptake is over two times that of Windows Vista’s, as you can see via the graphic included in this article.
Windows 7 Crushes Vista - In terms of adoption - Softpedia
Vista was a good OS, (I thought) after SP1 came out...
So is it safe to also assume that XP is dieing (Slowly?)
i really for the life of me can't understand why outside of corporate environments xp is still in use anyways. it's an archaic OS.
Hello valtonray,
Because of mostly compatible hardware, drivers, and comfort with Seven's GUI, Vista users adoption of Seven is not supprising at all.
For the vast majority of home users running XP - they will upgrade to Seven when they replace their systems, not before. To them, it's not an "archaic" OS - it works.
The attitude of the regular posters here in adopting the new (and I include myself) is simply not shared by the majority who by and large have other priorities.
I can agree with this for the most part, but I have issue with consumers that end up buying these $2000 computers with Core i7's, 8 GB RAM, a few SSD's in RAID0, and what do they do? They put XP on them. I'm dead serious, I've seen this happen far more often than I ever expected. It's their money and they can do what they like, but I find absolutely no point in putting a near 10 year old operating system on brand new hardware.
