Microsoft wants to put infected PCs in rubber room.

A top Microsoft executive is floating the idea of creating mandatory quarantines for computers with malware infections that pose a risk to internet users.

The informal proposal, made Tuesday by Microsoft Vice President of Trustworthy Computing Scott Charney, was short on specifics, such as who would be responsible for monitoring and isolating malware-riddled machines. But he laid out his case for keeping them away from the general populace, comparing such a move to laws that have gone into effect over the past 20 years banning cigarette smoking in public.

    Thats a brilliant idea.

I have no idea how it could be implemented, but keeping someones virus and spyware infected pc off the internet gets my vote

This sound like the malarky that I read about where that MS want to create a tax for internet use. I guess that is to pay for all of those rubber rooms. Idiotic.

Wouldn't be that bad of an idea if detection rates were 100% and there were no false positives. But that will never happen. So for now....doesn't sound like a good idea.

Why don't they just make security suites better?

Or better yet make the OS more secure.

I can just imagine the problems this would cause when they get a false positive and decide to disconnect your internet.

Something does need done about viruses though. Im not saying this is the best solution, however there are far too many people out there who are accessing the internet while they have spware, viruses etc on their pc.

I dont see why the rest of us should have to put up sharing the internet with people who either dont know how to keep their pc clean or just dont care.

Thats just my two cents lol
