If it's not shipped with a browser, how do you access the internet?

end of the day, ill hold my hands up and say im not an IE fan, i use it for 2 things.... downloading firefox, and playing poker as the software is IE based, i have no problem with it skulking in the background though, plenty of things use it, hell your internet options are tied into IE, i see no problem with MS shipping Windows with IE, i just choose not to use it, there are plenty of things i object to microsft doing, but shipping IE with windows isnt one of them

Well seriously, if it doesn't come shipped with a browser how do you download one if you have no apparatus to view webpages with to begin with?

Microsoft didn't willingly make that decision: the European Union mandated that Microsoft do something to allow users to download other browsers.

Users were notified to download a web browser installation file in advance.

actually the browser choice screen was microsofts idea. the eu voted to make them remove ie altogether. microsoft panicked over that idea and was able to come to the ballot screen compromise with the eu.

Well, not to be argumentative here, but what's the use of that? I mean, why would someone want to have a batch file to download a browser, when they could just use another computer to download the setup file to a USB?
