I read this earlier....unfortunately with the economy in the state it's in, I think the growth will be slow. Businesses will almost be forced to switch within 2 years but Windows 7 (the best OS made by MS to date) will take market share slowly. We will never see the rush to buy like Windows 95 or even XP. I wish it would happen....they deserve it with the work they have done on this OS. I will buy a copy.....probably retail or OEM.

Yeah, the only thing i have to do with XP is a stick on my laptop that states 'Designed for Microsoft Windows XP'

Excellent read, i would have to agree 'Biggest hit ever!!'
That's actually how I read the title.

I guess some people have nothing better to do than attempt to bash an OS they've never even tried.

I am fully converted, unless there is some major show stopper with the rtm for me i will be ditching vista.
    I agree!

Unless money is very tight there is no real reason to stick with Vista once 7 is fully released.

At work, we still use XP. Vista will never touch our computers. When Win7 RC hits, I'm going to migrate 50% of my user to it. (They all use roaming profiles, so data migration is zero.) When RTM comes out, I'm moving all of my users to it.

I've already tested every application we use. I've tested all of our external work websites. I've tested all our internal web applications. I've tested our roaming features. I've tested our network. I've tested all of our hardware. I've tested everything since the beta release. It all works perfectly with Win7. Something actually work better.

With the new features (under hood as well as GUI) and everything else Win7 offers, I'd be crazy not to upgrade since there are no bugs for us, let alone showstoppers.

If I was in a leadership IT position, which of course I'm not, I would deploy 7 on every desktop I possibly could. All my life I have hated on MS but this time around, they have done something wonderful and amazing. My hat off to them!

If I could have my way, I would have all three of my computers running Win7. As others have said it's too early to tell if it will be the biggest hit ever.

Those who are still with XP, won't give it up until they're absolutely, beyond a shred of doubt, it will work for them. Those who have Vista, and it works!, will most likely wait.

I have to have all three versions of Windows to see where and what a person has done to help themselves to a Trojan, virus, malware, rootkit or whatever thier pleasure du jour is

As the question asked is "will Windows be MS's biggest hit ever" I would probably probably not, my reasoning behind this is as follows ...

I would suggest that XP is the most successful Microsoft OS, due to the fact that it has had an artificially long life cycle, due to Vista not appearing when it was planned to and then not taking off the way it might have. XP was also Microsoft's flagship OS when the explosion of world PC use occurred.

Windows 7 is the Best Microsoft OS based on what we have seen to date however it is entering the market at a time when the economic conditions are bad so may start slower than it deserves.
Also of course it is unlikely that Windows 7 will have the life cycle of XP, with Microsoft expecting to return to the normal timetable for Windows 8 or whatever it will be called.

i think windows 7 is the best OS they've put out, however, with the way this economy is, i think it'll start slow.
i'm also excited to see their marketing
