talking about wallpapers...is anyone else pissed to still see the beta fish?!

i had the goofball wallpaper on earlier builds

I've never used the built in stuff. I do manual backups to a hard drive. I don't have faith in Windows to get all that I need to save. I'll look at this version and see if it is worth trying.

No I'm pissed because of the recession. Pissed because I had a very stressful week at work last week. Pissed because I'm getting my tonsils out next week. But I'm certainly not pissed at something I can change in 5 seconds.

just popped in the version 7100 RC1. started loading right away except it died showing an error 0x80070003 code....any fix for that yet?

ah yes, the tonsils. i've had those removed and then soon after the wisdom teeth. fun stuff!

Is this a clean install or an upgrade from a beta build? That error is related to MS Updates. If it's an upgrade, you might try not going online to check for updates. If it's a clean install, you might try not selecting "use recommended settings" for updates. That is, if you even got that far.

Yes, it says it's for testing and evaluation -- which the RC still is -- and that it's not something as presented on shelves in stores.

It's fully expected, and is zero grounds for believing something is fake. You would need a better reason--anything--to believe something isn't "real."

In fact, if you come across any copy without that at this stage, then you need to start believing *that* is fake, as might occur if someone wanted to modify things for sale on the streets of India, etc., with beta serials and not have it obvious that they're passing off non-final stuff as final.

Anyway, "evaluation copy" has zero validity in reasoning that something is "fake."
