    Scribd Ditches Flash in Favor of HTML5

    Site that lets anyone upload almost any document and publish it to the Web announces it is converting the millions of documents it hosts to HTML5.

    Jared Friedman, cofounder and CTO of Scribd–the site that lets anyone upload almost any document and publish it to the Web–was among the last keynote speakers at the Web 2.0 Conference in San Francisco today. And he had big news (teased yesterday on TechCrunch): Scribd is dumping Flash and converting the millions of documents it hosts to HTML5.

    I completely agree with Scribd and Apple. Its time to move beyond flash.

    The killer site everyone is waiting for is youtube and of course they already have a limited html5 beta.

    That's true. When Youtube and some other important sites move over to HTML5, we have a new standard. Personally, I believe it also means we are never going to see a 64-bit flash player.

    Well if html5 becomes standard then it'l be more cross platform and wont need to worry about out-moded notions like that

    Nice find, hope we still get a 64-bit flash player for the legacy sites that don't convert to HTML5.

    Don't imagine they'll be converting everything, way too much data to convert.

Hi guys I finally updated IE9 to latest IE11. Whilst not a total convert to IE11 it's perhaps not as bad as I thought. However an annoying issue has cropped up. On youtube I have always had HTML5 as the preferred player where possible. But since updating to IE11 flash is now always being used....
I have read that Flash player is expected to be phased out as the online video and online game standard and HTML 5 will come in it's place. Will HTML5 have any advantages over flash? A side issue: I have also read that Adobe has stopped developing Flash for mobile devices, the author's comment...

A few days ago my Flash and HTML5 audio stopped working, but the video shows up fine. I tried all of the browser I could think of (Chrome, Firefox, Opera, IE, I even made my own) and I got the same problem. Sound does work, though, in other programs like iTunes and Skype.
