What I like is the independent evaluation and comparison of various AV software. MS shows up as the best of the free av software and better than nearly all not-free av software.

it may be good but i am geting pig sick of essentials keep telling me both my xp and Windows 7 might not be legal and go on line to fix it its about time they fixed this bug

It's not a bug. I suggest you go to the site they recommend. Many people have purchased what they thought was a legal copy of Windows.
