My mom's laptop came with it preinstalled. I already have the full version of office, but I decided to see what all the ruckus was about. So when I clicked it, it gave me the option to purchase it, enter a code if I had one, or use "Starter Edition". It specifically said that Starter Edition is not a trial, but ad-supported versions of Word and Excel 2010. I chose that and everything loaded fine. I didn't see any ads while I was using it, other than a square Office 2010 banner (non-intrusive) in bottom right of the screen. Still though, Word and Excel are not enough. Just stick to 2007. The only thing I liked was the removal of the ribbon button. Everything has its own tab now.

But seriously, I think 2010 is better than 2007 (tried the '10 beta and own '07). I prefer OpenOffice.org, but I can understand why some people like Office, and that's fine by me. The only reason I use Office is for the '07 formats that NC State requires...
