it clearly says the beta is for vista/7 only, not sure if the final release will support xp anyway, not going to be supported in few years..

I think they said this version wasnt going to support XP. XP is dead anyway.

Rats! Doesn't support XP... I think.

Whenever I run the installer, something pops up saying that it's not a compatible 32 bit application. What the heck...

Is this a bug, or is it just not supporting XP?
No, XP is not supported. Live Beta requires Seven or Vista, as told here: Windows Live Essentials beta

Well, back to previous version! WLMB is not stable at all, freezing all the time when surfing inside...

Incidentally, does anyone know how stationery works in the Live Mail Beta?

Viewing html stationery in WLM beta is fine, no problem, the reading pane is a lot smaller, which is a nuisance.

As for sending html stationery that is a NO NO as WLM Beta puts a nasty line round the background tiles, so rendering the html stationery ugly, so impossible to send to others, completely ruins them. I have uninstalled the Beta WLM and re installed the previous version, which works fine for Stationery.

It's obvious that MS does not want to support XP anymore, someday they will force u to upgrade to new msn.

Downloaded it and gave it a try, then returned to the newest stable release.
I have to say that I love it, and am very excited about it.
Though I see this as an attempt from Microsoft to "push" people to use Windows Live just like they'd use Facebook, Twitter and similar social networking solutions (because of the new features inside Messenger, for example); the privacy and account settings have been reworked and are more complicated than ever, lol; it's good that they're trying to bring more than just an IM solution (mostly talking about Mesenger here, as it got the most new features). Sharing pictures, connecting services, video chats, everything has been worked out and is better than before, even in this beta.
It's still buggy as hell and most of the options are either hidden or scattered, but hey, it's just a beta, the new look is yet to come.
I saw somewhere on YouTube a preview of WLM 2011, if someone wants it, I can post the link :)

(And yes, I am back after 4 months, lol)

I have to wait for unofficial patches/mods to come out, which remove god awful features.
Or maybe plus, which add a couple of useful features, and by the looks of it, its gonna take them a while to catch up with this when its released...

Any ideas of a release date ? If non, I'll just say "5 months". Makes me surprised when it comes earlier.

Edit, guy(s) at apatch have released a temp patch, for the beta already, removes a few ads, thats it.
    >Can't find out how to change the name, had to change the account details instead, from Bob Bobbafisk to Eloi.

    >ARGH THEY CHANGED THE DAMN SMILIES !

They have stated that plus wont be updated until Windows Live is fully released.

In the Photo Gallery, when you group pics by Face Recognition (in the batch processing part), sometimes it looses the name of the person (you come back the next day and start up the PC, resume working on this, and you see some people in the name tags are gone!).

And when you merge two people (because of mispelled names or whatnot), it sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.

Not ready for primetime yet !
Which is why it's a public beta, NOT a general release.
Did I say it was a general release? I just pointed out that is was not ready at this point, at all.

    Too many bugs.
