Windows 7: Help me overclock my CPU

This is my first time overclocking a CPU and was wondering if anyone could help.

I have an AMD Phenom II X4 940 running at 3.0GHz. I've done a little bit of reading and it can be overclocked to 3.6GHz on stock cooling.

So can anyone help me with the overclocking part? What should I put all my settings to?

Also, overclocking on stock cooling is NEVER a good idea.

I already looked at that guide. I don't really understand it. :/

I know it's not a good idea, but it's been proven to be stable.

If you didn't understand it, overclocking is not for you....

You can SERIOUSLY hurt your computer if you do it wrong.

I think I'm just gonna take a stab at it lol.

I found this YouTube video of this guy who overclocked the same CPU. His settings are:

CPU Frequency: 240 MHz
CPU Voltage: 1.4500 V
CPU Multiplier: 15 (Stock)

Just keep in mind that each CPU is different, and yours could handle more or less.

You need to keep re-reading that guide until you understand it. What you're about to do is the willy-nilly approach: no understanding of your components, what they're capable of, or what to expect... just apply random settings willy-nilly.

Guys who use this approach usually do harm to their computers... and they post back with topics such as, "help! my computer keeps shutting down", "why won't my computer turn on anymore", and my personal favorite, "are puffs of black smoke normal?"

Do yourself a favor, educate yourself.

Well, I tried it and I failed. I put the bus speed from 200 to 210, restarted, and nothing showed up. I seriously almost s*** my pants. So then I had to try and figure out how to reset my BIOS and I finally figured out how. I tried removing my battery but I couldn't. So I put the 3 pin jumper thingy on the 2 and 3 pin and waited for like 2 minutes. Then I put it back on 1 and 2 (or so I thought) and then it kept saying that my CMOS battery was low or something. I looked back in my case and realized the jumper thingy was just on pin 1 and not on pin 2. So I moved it back over and now it works.

I'm not doing that again. I almost had a heart attack. O_O
