Question about case cables When you but a case, it comes with cables linking from the ports & the startup/shutdown button, but I don't know whether it will connect to my motherboard.
Are all the cables the same type? | My System Specs |

Yes they will. All the USB, front panel audio (AC'97 or HD Audio, some cases will have both for compatibility of older board, etc all conform to the ATX standard. The power, reset, hard drive indicator, etc can be different in layout from different board manufacturer's but will still all connect in the same way, Front Panel Connections : Building Your Own PC, Part 2: Assembly Step by Step
Just check the manual to see which is which (should be labeled on the board, but may not be the easiest to read), and match them up with the connectors from the front. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Me OS Win 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Phenom II x4 955 @ 4 GHz. Agree with Stormy. Sometimes you might need cable extensions or adapter cables, but these are accessories. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell and Custom OS Systems 1 and 2: Windows 7 Enterprise x64, Win 8 Developer CPU System 1: i7 2600@3.4GHz, System 2: AMD FX-4100 Zambezi 3.6G Motherboard System 1:Dell 06NWYK System 2: ASUS M5A97 AM3+ Memory System 1: 8GB System 2: 8GB Graphics Card System 1: ATI FirePro V4800 System 2: Radeon HD 6850 Sound Card System 1: onboard System 2: onboard Monitor(s) Displays System1: Viewsonic HDMI 24" Screen Resolution System 1: 1920x1080 System 2: 1920x1080 Case System 1: Dell System 2: Cooler Master Hard Drives System 1: Mirrored .5B drives System 2: Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s Internet Speed 10 MBPS |

The link shows some 2-pin ports. By the looks of it, most of mine are 4-pin. I'll just look on my motherboard and see what it says

Sorry, maybe there are 2-pin ports, just that the cables are stuck together | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP-Pavilion m7755.uk OS Windows 7 Ultimate x32 CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.40GHz Motherboard P5LP-LE (Leonite) Memory 3GB PC2-5300 DDR2-667Mhz Graphics Card XFX ATI Radeon HD 4870 1GB Monitor(s) Displays Generic PnP Monitor Screen Resolution 1440 x 900 PSU OCZ Modxstream 600W Hard Drives SAMSUNG HD400LJ Hard drive 400GB |

Is the motherboard the one in your specs or a different one. If different, what is the make and full model number of it?
As has been stated, motherboard connectors are standard, but their physical location may vary. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Dwarf Dwf/11/2012 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Service Pack 1 CPU Intel Core-i5-3570K 4-core @ 3.4GHz (Ivy Bridge) (OC 4.2GHz) Motherboard ASRock Z77 Extreme4-M Memory 4 x 4GB DDR3-1600 Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B (16GB) Graphics Card 2 x AMD Radeon HD7770 1GB CrossFired (OC 1100MHz/1250MHz) Sound Card Realtek High Definition on board solution (ALC 898) Monitor(s) Displays ViewSonic VA1912w Widescreen (VGA) Screen Resolution 1440x900 Keyboard Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard 3000 (USB) Mouse Microsoft Comfort Mouse 3000 for Business (USB) PSU XFX Pro Series 850W Semi-Modular Case Gigabyte IF233 Cooling 1 x 120mm Front Inlet 1 x 120mm Rear Exhaust Hard Drives OCZ Agility 3 SSD 120GB SATA III x2 (RAID 0)

the cables habe been the same standard for YEARS the only differance now is instyead of having all the cables on seperate single wires with wee tiny plugs on em (what a pain in the rear they were) they are now mostly grouped to gether in the form of a plug , so now for example you dont have to study your mobo manual for three hours trying to figure out where the + _ 5v etc need to go , just to connect a front USB header | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Win 7 Home Premium 64 Bit CPU Intel Q9550 @ 3.83 / Titan Fenir Motherboard XFX 780i Memory 4GB OCZ PC2-8500C5 DDR2 Graphics Card 2 x Gainward GTX260/216 SLI Sound Card Creative X-FI Xtreme Gamer Monitor(s) Displays Dell UltraSharp 2209WA 22" Screen Resolution 1680x1050 Keyboard Razer Reclusa Mouse Logitech G5 Gamer PSU OCZ Modstream 700w Case Cooler Master CM Storm Scout Cooling Titan Fenir Hard Drives western digital raptor 10000rpm sata Internet Speed 8mb Question about case cables problems?
