AMD 955 voltage

I have a AMD 955. I have it OC to 3.6 18X and the V core voltage set to 1.28. Will running the voltage to low hurt the CPU or just not work right? Right now it is cold here so my room temperature is 72F and my CPU is 30c, MB 26c and Vcore is 1.28 at rest. If I run Prime for and hour CPU get to 45-47c. Now I have a Zalman 9500a on CPU. But i just got a new Zalman 9900 Max to put on soon. Hope it will give me lower temperature because in the summer my room is 82F. Hope running Vcore at 1.28 is OK.

The way you will know if the voltage is too low to support the overclock is to stress the processor with an app like Prime95. Overclocks look good when they run at idle, but you want to make sure it can run and run good under load.

Prime 95

I ran Prime 95 for and hour CPU got to 45-47c. With no problems I think(no red box and I just stopped it) If voltage was to low would PC just stop or freeze. If it did would it hurt the CPU or just mean I need to raise the voltage a little?
Thanks Johnny333

In most circumstances, you should be okay.

If it was too low [the voltage] then it would have probably frozen or BSOD'd. In which case, you'd be correct in stating that you'd just up the voltage a bit. (You would also have to re-run the Prime95 to see if that problem would re-occur. If not, you'd be good to go)

You should run Prime95 for around 12 hours to be completely sure the CPU is stable.
