Using AS-ROCK OC Tuner for this OC? Hi guys,
I've just put together my first build, and she's running like a champ! (see system specs)
I've an AS-ROCK G31M-S R2.0 Motherboard, and an Intel Pentium E5500 CPU. The stock speed is 2.8GHz and I wish to OC it to 3.2GHz. Now, my question is - is the AS-ROCK OC Tuner software safe to overclock my CPU to this speed? If there is anyone with experience in this program, could you tell me what settings need changing to make the OC safe and reliable? Also, the chip is relatively cool even under load (40 degrees) | My System Specs |

Hmm, i don't know if OC'ing that chip will benefit you in some way.. i mean, i have a E6500 @2.93GHz and it's running just fine. but since you're asking...
I think it's safe to use because it is from the same manufacturer as your Motherboard, i guess it should work ok.

Thanks for the info, Punkster!
And nope, its simply the Intel Refference cooler, but as I said, the chip runs nice and cool even under full load. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Spitfire X (Custom Rig) OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Service Pack 1 CPU Intel Pentium E5500 Dual Core 2.8GHz OC'd @3.2GHz Motherboard AsRock G31M-S R2.0 Memory 4GB Corsair DDR2 800MHz (2x2GB) Graphics Card Inno 3D Geforce GT 440 1GB Sound Card Realtek ALC662 Audio w/ Logitech Z506 5.1 Surround Speakers Monitor(s) Displays BenQ G2220HDA 21.5" Monitor Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 (1080p) Keyboard Logitech Ultra Flat Keyboard PN 967653-0100 Mouse Trust GXT 14S Gaming Mouse PSU Antec High Current Gamer HCG-520w Case Antec One Hundred Cooling 140 mm Roof Fan, 120mm Rear Fan, 120mm Frontal Fan Hard Drives OS: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 250GB

Okok i see, well, what you need to do is download the software, install it, try a little bit of overclock and test it.
If you see temperatures going higher than your "comfort ones" lower the O.C., after that, stress it with Prime95 for a couple of hours to see if the O.C. is stable and there you go.
By the way, your Motherboard is not made for overclocking, it's just a mainstream series, i'd recommend a really slight overclock to begin with and then, take it from there until you find your exact point | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Built by Myself OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (64-bit) CPU Intel Core i5-2310 @ 2.90GHz Motherboard MSI PH67A-C43 (B3) Memory Kingston KVR 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3 @ 1333MHz Graphics Card PNY XLR8 GTX 560 Ti 1GB GDDR5 Sound Card Realtek HD Audio (ALC 892) Monitor(s) Displays LG W2353V-PF Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 (HDMI) Keyboard Logitech MK320 Wireless Keyboard Mouse Logitech MK320 Wireless Mouse PSU Thermaltake Toughpower XT 575w Modular 80 PLUS Bronze Case Cooler Master CM Storm Enforcer Cooling Thermaltake Frío, CM MegaFlow 200mm (2), CM 120mm (1) Hard Drives Samsung HD502HJ (500GB), ExcelStor J8080S (80GB) Internet Speed dl: 1024kbps, ul: 512kbps |

MSI's OC program's work well for small OC's. I'm sure AS-Rock's will be similar. The issue is still not understanding what makes for the best and most stable OC still is a mystery but it's all good as they say. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number A blend of brains, brawn and dumb luck, ask me about rig #2 ! One thing to be aware of is depending on how you use the program, if you let it do auto stuff, you may find you have higher voltages then needed to achieve the same clock speeds if you did it manually. In short.... these programs tend to over-volt. What that does that mean to you.... higher temps.
This is why most overclockers avoid these programs.
No I have no experience with this particular piece of software, but I did try the equivalent (EasyTune 6) for my motherboard and "Auto" did over-volt some stuff.
Now, depending on the program, some (EasyTune 6) will also give you more control over voltages and other stuff. If that’s the case I recommend you try your hands at manual settings…. Though if you’re going to do all that, might as well use the BIOS.
My two cents. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Built by me OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel Core i7-950 (3.06GHz) OC to 3.8GHz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 rev 1, F6 Bios Memory 12 gig Corsair DDR3 Dominator GT Memory (3X 4GB) Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD6950 2gig (Sapphire) Sound Card X-Fi Titanium Fatality Pro Monitor(s) Displays HP ZR22w 22" LCD Monitor Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech Wireless Wave Mouse Logitech Performance MX PSU Antec Signature - SG-850 Case Cooler Master HAF X Cooling Noctua NH-C12P SE14 Hard Drives Primary - OCZ Vertex 4 SSD (256GB). Well, if the OC works correctly, write down the numbers, and manually set it with lower voltages.
