Windows itself provided a good hardware
driver, the same
driver you can DL from the document-listed site.
Please take note of the USB serial port the display is using (mine is port 10) found under Device Manager as you will need to install the LIS display DLL and tell it what port you are using otherwise you will receive an error message when it tries to load.
The software from LIS is crappy (as you say) in that although it works for the Admin account, it does not with all other accounts (tech support was no help).
This program seems to function nicely, is light on resources, and allows me to set what is displayed. The plugins add good functionality.
I am using the 5.4.1 Beta version, btw.
