Memory Voltage in Overclocking Hello everyone, im trying to overclock my gear and i need a little help... Right now im working on the memory, im just trying to get a little bit extra without damaging anything...
my timings right now are 9 9 9 24 and its 2T... im trying to get it set to 1T for now but when i change it in the bios and try to start up it says overclocking failed and i have to put it back to 2T to get it to start up... i think this may be because my voltage is set at 1.50.... in the bios it says the min is 1.50v and max 2.50v... i would like to know what i should set it as to get it down to 1T....

im also going to up the Processor today, but first im going to go buy a new heat sink to make sure i dont damage anything, going to get a Zalmans, anyone have any recommendations for some overclock settings for the CPU as well? its at 3.2 now, im only lookin to moderately boost things...
any recommendations for Overclocking settings?

first off if you want it single channel you have to change the memory slots
thiere color coded and most of the time if each memory stick is i one oppesite colors will get you 1T ,but if the memory is in the same color slots thats 2T or dual channel
You need to read the MB manual it will tell you more
Also if your not familiar with with OC'ing I would leave it be not to much of a big gain when you do this ,Most of the time Ocing can damage more then do good just keep that in mind | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Built by me Bulldozer series Generation FX OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit sp1 CPU BullDozer 8120-30p Oc'ed BE 4.5Ghz 1.44 V-core Motherboard MSI 990FXA-GD80 Memory 8 Gigs of Corsair Vengeance Ram 1600mhz-Oc'ed 1760 Mhz Graphics Card Radeon Diamond Hd 6870 1gb Msi Twin frozer Hd6870 1gb X-fire Sound Card THX tru souround sound audio Monitor(s) Displays 22" envision 1050dp hdmi 37in vizio hdmi dual monitors Screen Resolution 1680x1050 22"- 1920x1080 37" Keyboard Logitech wireless keyboard Mouse Logitech wireless mouse PSU AX850w Corsair Gold 80plus certified crosfire/sli Case 2-CoolerMaster Elite 371 Yes same case for 2 different Pc's Cooling Antec 620 Water cooling system and 4 120 mm LED fans Hard Drives Corsair 80 Gb SSD Seagate baracuda 500 Gb WD Mybook 500Gb Internet Speed Cable 20+ mb Other Info I have 2 systems Bulldozer AM3+ 8120-30P Oc'ed 4.5Ghz AM2+ 925 deneb 2.8 to 3.2 Ghz Both stable Both Gaming Rigs Diamond/MSI HD 6870 1Gb X-fire and Diamond HD5770 1Gb Also Hp Notebook 1.65 ghz Dual core amd E-450 8gb Patriot Ram DDR3 Discrete Gpu Hd6320 dedicated ram 1973 mb 15.5 screen |

No, except that if your memory is rated 2T that might be a clue. Overclocking memory really doesn't pay off in real world performance benefits anyhow. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home built (GeneO industries)/Model 2 OS Windows 7 64 bit SP1 CPU i5 2500k @ 4.5 GHz, 1.256V 120 GFlop (with AVX) Motherboard ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Memory 16GB (4GBx4) 1600MHz G.skill Ripjaws X 8-8-8-24 Graphics Card Asus Nvidia ENGTS450, 1GB 4030 MHz DDR5 clock, 915 Mhz GPU Sound Card Onboard Realtek HD Monitor(s) Displays NEC Spectraview 2490WUXi-SV Screen Resolution 1920 x 1200 Keyboard HP Wireless Mouse HP wireless PSU Antec TruePower New 650W Case Fractal Design "Define R3" Cooling CM Hyper 212+ push/pull, 5 120mm, 1 140mm case fans Hard Drives Crucial 128GB M4 (system), 2x WD Caviar 1TB Black internal (data), 1x Seagate 750G Barracuda Internal (backups), 1x WD Blue 6Gb/s 320GB Internal, 1x Corsair F40 SSD for cache, 1x 2TB eSata WD20EARS Green, 2x 500GB Seagate external USB, 1x 350GB exte Internet Speed 25.7 Mb/s down, 4.5 Mb/s up Other Info USB 3.0 x4 , SATA III x4, eSATA x3, SATA II x4, USB 2.0 x8. 2 Samsung DVD R/W drives.

Hi mate..it's possible that in order to get 1T rate you "may" need to relax the timings.
Basically I would'nt bother with memory overclocks...the gain is minimal. If you O/C your CPU then depending on what divider you use then you may have your memory O/C'd anyway to some extent.
The other possibility is the mainboard you are using...personally never heard of an "EVO" board...not all motherboards will O/C..for the most part Gigabyte/Asus are the motherboards "most" overclockers use as they basically are made to O/C or support it at least.
Your board may not be one that does.

you can get 1T by using 1black slot and 1 blue only that will give you 1T even though it is rated two ,I found that out the hard way | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Built by me Bulldozer series Generation FX OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit sp1 CPU BullDozer 8120-30p Oc'ed BE 4.5Ghz 1.44 V-core Motherboard MSI 990FXA-GD80 Memory 8 Gigs of Corsair Vengeance Ram 1600mhz-Oc'ed 1760 Mhz Graphics Card Radeon Diamond Hd 6870 1gb Msi Twin frozer Hd6870 1gb X-fire Sound Card THX tru souround sound audio Monitor(s) Displays 22" envision 1050dp hdmi 37in vizio hdmi dual monitors Screen Resolution 1680x1050 22"- 1920x1080 37" Keyboard Logitech wireless keyboard Mouse Logitech wireless mouse PSU AX850w Corsair Gold 80plus certified crosfire/sli Case 2-CoolerMaster Elite 371 Yes same case for 2 different Pc's Cooling Antec 620 Water cooling system and 4 120 mm LED fans Hard Drives Corsair 80 Gb SSD Seagate baracuda 500 Gb WD Mybook 500Gb Internet Speed Cable 20+ mb Other Info I have 2 systems Bulldozer AM3+ 8120-30P Oc'ed 4.5Ghz AM2+ 925 deneb 2.8 to 3.2 Ghz Both stable Both Gaming Rigs Diamond/MSI HD 6870 1Gb X-fire and Diamond HD5770 1Gb Also Hp Notebook 1.65 ghz Dual core amd E-450 8gb Patriot Ram DDR3 Discrete Gpu Hd6320 dedicated ram 1973 mb 15.5 screen |

TBH, you are really better keeping the RAM at or below whatever its rated specs are.
Overclocking it will not really gain you much, other than in a benchmark. But, RAm is also the easiest piece of Hardware to ruin by overclocking. Especially if exceeding recommended voltages.
When Overclocking the majority of gains will come from CPU clock/bus speeds.
So lower the RAM, find the stable CPU clocks, then raise your RAM speed to where its at or just below rated spec.
This is your best bet IMHO. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom (Self Build) OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU Intel Core i7 2700k (4.5Ghz) Motherboard eVGA P67 SLI Memory 2x4GB Mushkin Redline Ridgebacks (@1866) Graphics Card EVGA GTX570 SuperClocked (1280MB) Sound Card XiFi Titanium HD Monitor(s) Displays LG W2453V Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Saitek Cyborg PSU Seasonic x750 Case Corsair 600T (SE White) Cooling eVGA Superclocked CPU Cooler Hard Drives [OS SSD]Intel 320 (80GB) -- Intel X25-V (40GB) --WD Black (1TB)x2 -- WD Blue (640GB) Other Info LG BD/DVD All times are GMT -5.
