Memory Voltage in Overclocking Hello everyone, im trying to overclock my gear and i need a little help... Right now im working on the memory, im just trying to get a little bit extra without damaging anything...
my timings right now are 9 9 9 24 and its 2T... im trying to get it set to 1T for now but when i change it in the bios and try to start up it says overclocking failed and i have to put it back to 2T to get it to start up... i think this may be because my voltage is set at 1.50.... in the bios it says the min is 1.50v and max 2.50v... i would like to know what i should set it as to get it down to 1T....

first off if you want it single channel you have to change the memory slots
thiere color coded and most of the time if each memory stick is i one oppesite colors will get you 1T ,but if the memory is in the same color slots thats 2T or dual channel
You need to read the MB manual it will tell you more
Also if your not familiar with with OC'ing I would leave it be not to much of a big gain when you do this ,Most of the time Ocing can damage more then do good just keep that in mind | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Built by me FX - Series Scorpious OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit sp1 CPU Vishera FX 8350 Oc' 4.812Ghz 1.488 V-core full load 50c Motherboard Asus Sabertooth 990fx rev 2.0 Memory 16gb Corsair Vengeance ram 1600mhz Oc'ed to 1750mhz Graphics Card VisionTek HD7970 Ghz.ed Bios Crossfire 1150/1560 power 10% Sound Card AC97 Monitor(s) Displays 27" ViewSonic 1920/1080dp hdmi 37in vizio hdmi dual monitors Screen Resolution 1920x1080 27"- 1920x1080 37" Keyboard Logitech wireless keyboard Mouse Logitech wireless mouse PSU HX1050w Corsair Silver 80plus certified crosfire/sli Case Thermaltake Element V Cooling Antec 620 Water cooling system and 4 120 mm LED fans Hard Drives Ocz Agility 120Gb SSD Seagate baracuda 500 Gb WD Mybook 500Gb Internet Speed Cable 25+ mb Antivirus WebRoot Spysweeper with Antivirus Browser IE-9, Chrome, Opera Other Info I have 2 systems FX AM3+ 8350-K15 Oc'ed 4.812Ghz AM2+ 965 BE Stock 3.4 Ghz Both stable Both Gaming Rigs Also Hp Notebook 1.65 ghz Dual core amd E-450 8gb Patriot Ram DDR3 Discrete Gpu Hd6320 dedicated ram 1973 mb 15.5 screen |

No, except that if your memory is rated 2T that might be a clue. Overclocking memory really doesn't pay off in real world performance benefits anyhow. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home built (GeneO industries)/Model 3 OS Windows 7 64 bit SP1 CPU i5 2500k @ 4.5 GHz, 1.264V 124 GFlop (IBT with AVX) Motherboard ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Memory 16GB (4GBx4) 1600MHz G.skill Ripjaws X 8-8-8-24 Graphics Card MSI GTX 660 Ti PE/OC, 2GB 7160 MHz DDR5 clock, 1228 Mhz Core Sound Card Onboard Realtek HD Monitor(s) Displays NEC Spectraview 2490WUXi-SV Screen Resolution 1920 x 1200 Keyboard HP Wireless Mouse HP wireless PSU Seasonic X-850 (2012 KM3 model) Case Fractal Design "Define R3" Cooling CM TPC 812 push/pull, 3 120mm, 2 TY-140 case fans Hard Drives Samsung 128GB 840 Pro SSD (System), Crucial 128GB M4 SSD, 2x WD Caviar 1TB Black internal (data), 1x WD Blue 6Gb/s 1TB Internal, 1x 2TB eSata WD20EARS Green, 2x 500GB Seagate external USB, 1x 350GB exte Internet Speed 27.8 Mb/s down, 5.6 Mb/s up Other Info USB 3.0 x4 , SATA III x4, eSATA x3, SATA II x4, USB 2.0 x8. 2 Samsung DVD R/W drives.

Hi mate..it's possible that in order to get 1T rate you "may" need to relax the timings.
Basically I would'nt bother with memory overclocks...the gain is minimal. If you O/C your CPU then depending on what divider you use then you may have your memory O/C'd anyway to some extent.
The other possibility is the mainboard you are using...personally never heard of an "EVO" board...not all motherboards will O/C..for the most part Gigabyte/Asus are the motherboards "most" overclockers use as they basically are made to O/C or support it at least.
Your board may not be one that does.

you can get 1T by using 1black slot and 1 blue only that will give you 1T even though it is rated two ,I found that out the hard way | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Built by me FX - Series Scorpious OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit sp1 CPU Vishera FX 8350 Oc' 4.812Ghz 1.488 V-core full load 50c Motherboard Asus Sabertooth 990fx rev 2.0 Memory 16gb Corsair Vengeance ram 1600mhz Oc'ed to 1750mhz Graphics Card VisionTek HD7970 Ghz.ed Bios Crossfire 1150/1560 power 10% Sound Card AC97 Monitor(s) Displays 27" ViewSonic 1920/1080dp hdmi 37in vizio hdmi dual monitors Screen Resolution 1920x1080 27"- 1920x1080 37" Keyboard Logitech wireless keyboard Mouse Logitech wireless mouse PSU HX1050w Corsair Silver 80plus certified crosfire/sli Case Thermaltake Element V Cooling Antec 620 Water cooling system and 4 120 mm LED fans Hard Drives Ocz Agility 120Gb SSD Seagate baracuda 500 Gb WD Mybook 500Gb Internet Speed Cable 25+ mb Antivirus WebRoot Spysweeper with Antivirus Browser IE-9, Chrome, Opera Other Info I have 2 systems FX AM3+ 8350-K15 Oc'ed 4.812Ghz AM2+ 965 BE Stock 3.4 Ghz Both stable Both Gaming Rigs Also Hp Notebook 1.65 ghz Dual core amd E-450 8gb Patriot Ram DDR3 Discrete Gpu Hd6320 dedicated ram 1973 mb 15.5 screen |

TBH, you are really better keeping the RAM at or below whatever its rated specs are.
Overclocking it will not really gain you much, other than in a benchmark. But, RAm is also the easiest piece of Hardware to ruin by overclocking. Especially if exceeding recommended voltages.
When Overclocking the majority of gains will come from CPU clock/bus speeds.
So lower the RAM, find the stable CPU clocks, then raise your RAM speed to where its at or just below rated spec.
This is your best bet IMHO. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom (Self Build) OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU Intel Core i7 2700k Motherboard eVGA P67 SLI Memory 8GB Mushkin Redline Ridgebacks @1866 Graphics Card EVGA GTX570 SC Sound Card XiFi Titanium HD Monitor(s) Displays LG W2453V Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Saitek Cyborg PSU Seasonic x750 Case Corsair 600T SE White Cooling eVGA Superclocked CPU Cooler Hard Drives Intel 320 80GB -- Intel X25-V 40GB --WD Black 1TB x2 -- WD Blue 640GB Antivirus Kaspersky Browser IE Other Info LG BD/DVD Memory Voltage in Overclocking problems?
