hd6850 failed to oc at all

hi all
i recently tried to oc my xfx hd6850 n failed. thing is all i had done was up the core clock by 15mhz in 3 steps of 5mhz.
playing deus ex it was runnin ok but within a few mins of bfbc2 online it crashed. i had to hit the reset button on my case. couldnt alt tab or cntrl, alt, delete.
i would of thought it would oc more as the reviews ive read mostly say its a good overclocker.
any ideas? or hav i just got a poor overclocker?
cheers folks

Could be a number of things Check the Pci Latency timer if it is set to 32 or 64 /96 or 128

If it is above 32 bring it back to 32 Also if you have a Oc'ed CPU if could have a effect on the Gpu remember these things go hand and hand when gaming the system relies on the cpu just as much as the Gpu

This was the case when i tuned my then Hd 5770 kept crashing the Latency was to high

But if that doesnt work try it in another system try to incress the clock if it crashes again then your card is where it is

I would probally look into swapping it out in case before it could turn bad

But ussually Overclocking can conflict a couple pieces of hardware if not done correctly

Overclocking is part skill/knowledge, and part luck of the draw...I have the same CPU....3.6 is max overclock....3.7 will blue screen out sooner or later.....

Honestly I think it is the MB that holds you back same chip different board

My wall was 3.6 as well till i changed the board ,I could actually get a 4.1 out of this chip but it isn't worth it
