John, check your original online order for the case, if they sent the wrong one they should be responsible for an even exchange with them paying shipping both ways. I understand Oz has some laws on that.

Nice stuff Steve!

Thanks Boshko. With my history of buying motherboards, I'll be happy if it works.

John, this is the inside of the XM

Wish I had something more interesting to share, my students income of 0 dollars and 0 cents doesn't allow for much :P I'll be honest i'm lucky to be where I am given how much money I have put into it now. Birthday is coming up though.

I think my build has easily reached the stage where the only feasible upgrade would be an ssd. If you've heard of the term that the top 20% of any given product will generally offer minimal performance increase at an exponentially increasing cost? I believe this to be quite true. My hardware isn't premium gear or nothing but I don't play any games where my 7950 with a little overclock wont cope just fine. On top of this I never run out of ram, and my motherboard and cpu are great performers.

I'd like to get an ssd, but I want the best (non-literally), which comes with a cost. What are the good ssds out there? Intel 520s are meant to be the fastest, but they aren't cheap.

Failing that, I am very keen to do some more visual stuff, some nice fans, maybe some lighting..I really should be saving but I've never been very good at that :P What are good lighting solutions? I had my eye on some Bitfenix Alchemy connect kits, they offer great light, but I can't find a single place in New Zealand with stock

I think the most commonly quoted 'Best' SSDs are Crucial M4, Samsung 830, and Intel. I have all 3 but the Intel I have is an older model. I use them all and am happy with any of them, even the Intel X-25M ( which BTW is still running as well as the day I bought it. It's just not quite as fast as the others). An SSD is probably the most noticeable upgrade you can do. My 2 year old Intel is in my Daughter's 6 year old laptop, restart time is less than 30 seconds.
