Windows 7 - Ram settings

Hi Dave, Here are some CPU-Z snips with the FSB at 300, command Rate 2T. With the FSB and 310 the RAM freq was ~1648.

DRAM V = 1.64V
NB V = 1.44V
CPU NV VID = 1.35V
CPU V = 1.525V
RAM specs are identical other than the tRC and size.

Slots are populated as follows:
S1-2GB
S2-4GB
S3-2GB
S4-4GB



This is a bit improved and more consistent in two back-to-back runs.
Right after adding the 2 4GB chips I was seeing numbers in the 22,000 MB/s range.



And the crazy part, these were run about five minutes apart, quite a drop. No changes in anything.

I wouldn't put too much stock in that as a test of RAM. Maxxmem will give you more accurate results. Also, with the tRC, I would first try splitting the difference and setting it to 37. If that's no good then you'd be best at 40

Thanks for looking in Mark! I did as you suggested and tried the tRC at 37 and then 40. Results below. Still fairly low and subsequent test still show a lot of variances.

Just curious, what scores do you get if you run just the 2 4GB modules vs just the 2 2gb modules?
Change anything?

That's in the plans too. It is tricky to get to the RAM real quick and easy. CPU cooler is real close as you see here...

I have a feeling the 2x 2GB are holding things back. My heatsink covers the RAM as well so I know what a pain it is to add/remove RAM but I think you really should take out the 2GB sticks and see what happens

OK, just the two 4GB sticks now. Slight improvement, I think. On the Maxxmem site I see ratings much higher then mine with similar specs and CPUs. I put tRC back to 34 with just the two 8GBs running.
Any ideas to get to, say, 10GB/s or so?

I thought it would improve a lot better than that. I'm in a similar position to you. I feel like I should be able to squeeze more out but can't.

I clicked on Comparison in the program's menu.
You might try getting your HT Link and NB freq's both more the same and close to 2GHz.

You should check on the link from tw33k, see what they are doing to get more performance from the RAM.

The RAM speed is pretty close to yours for the CPU frequency, on that link.
