AMD FX processor @ 8.429 GHz A talented team broke a new frequency record with an AMD FX processor : 8.429 GHz. In order to reach that frequency, the CPU was cooled with liquid helium. Congratulations !

I have the AMD3+ FX 4100 and I am so far pleased with it, even though the FX scored .1 lower in the WEI then my previous AM3 x4 945 did. I have to say the system seems actually faster, maybe WEI is not able to correctly test my new AMD 990 extreme3 MB and the new FX CPU’s or what but over all I say my rig is running faster than my old ASUS and AM3 setup. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home build OS Windows 7 Pro x64 CPU AMD FX 4100 4 Core 3.6GHz AM3+ Motherboard ASROCK 970 Extreme3 Memory 16GB G.Skill RipjawsX Graphics Card Radeon 6850 Sound Card ASUS Xonar D1 Monitor(s) Displays ASUS 23" LCD PSU 700W Case Antec 100 Cooling Hyper 212 Plus Hard Drives SSD 120GB

Well to say the least ,The Bulldozer chip will be more usefull in windows 8 pretty much built in time for Win 8 that is where you will likley see the chip perform
I'm pretty sure the WEI on Win 8 will play in that chip's favor ,I myself is inline to grab a bulldozer chip the one I actually want is a myth i suppose but the codename and number are released 4170 .4.2 Ghz stadard imagine Oc'ing that bad boy
4 core chip at that no need for 6 or 8 cores I don't run to many resource sucking apps just gaming /streaming and such | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Built by me Bulldozer series Generation FX OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit sp1 CPU BullDozer 8120-30p Oc'ed BE 4.5Ghz 1.44 V-core Motherboard MSI 990FXA-GD80 Memory 8 Gigs of Corsair Vengeance Ram 1600mhz-Oc'ed 1760 Mhz Graphics Card Radeon Diamond Hd 6870 1gb Msi Twin frozer Hd6870 1gb X-fire Sound Card THX tru souround sound audio Monitor(s) Displays 22" envision 1050dp hdmi 37in vizio hdmi dual monitors Screen Resolution 1680x1050 22"- 1920x1080 37" Keyboard Logitech wireless keyboard Mouse Logitech wireless mouse PSU AX850w Corsair Gold 80plus certified crosfire/sli Case 2-CoolerMaster Elite 371 Yes same case for 2 different Pc's Cooling Antec 620 Water cooling system and 4 120 mm LED fans Hard Drives Corsair 80 Gb SSD Seagate baracuda 500 Gb WD Mybook 500Gb Internet Speed Cable 20+ mb Other Info I have 2 systems Bulldozer AM3+ 8120-30P Oc'ed 4.5Ghz AM2+ 925 deneb 2.8 to 3.2 Ghz Both stable Both Gaming Rigs Diamond/MSI HD 6870 1Gb X-fire and Diamond HD5770 1Gb Also Hp Notebook 1.65 ghz Dual core amd E-450 8gb Patriot Ram DDR3 Discrete Gpu Hd6320 dedicated ram 1973 mb 15.5 screen |

I don't know when they are going to bring out the FX-4170 but here is a link to some info about the new FX cpu's and the 4170 is also listed there. The 4100 that I have is 3.6GHz (3.8GHz Turbo). I will give the system a few weeks running at stock to make sure there are no problem and then I will start the OC and see if I can get it up to 4.5GHz or higher.

I don't think it helped to much /Some are saying they see the difference
I can't comment cause don't have the chip yet and those chips shouldn't score so low on WEI either | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Built by me Bulldozer series Generation FX OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit sp1 CPU BullDozer 8120-30p Oc'ed BE 4.5Ghz 1.44 V-core Motherboard MSI 990FXA-GD80 Memory 8 Gigs of Corsair Vengeance Ram 1600mhz-Oc'ed 1760 Mhz Graphics Card Radeon Diamond Hd 6870 1gb Msi Twin frozer Hd6870 1gb X-fire Sound Card THX tru souround sound audio Monitor(s) Displays 22" envision 1050dp hdmi 37in vizio hdmi dual monitors Screen Resolution 1680x1050 22"- 1920x1080 37" Keyboard Logitech wireless keyboard Mouse Logitech wireless mouse PSU AX850w Corsair Gold 80plus certified crosfire/sli Case 2-CoolerMaster Elite 371 Yes same case for 2 different Pc's Cooling Antec 620 Water cooling system and 4 120 mm LED fans Hard Drives Corsair 80 Gb SSD Seagate baracuda 500 Gb WD Mybook 500Gb Internet Speed Cable 20+ mb Other Info I have 2 systems Bulldozer AM3+ 8120-30P Oc'ed 4.5Ghz AM2+ 925 deneb 2.8 to 3.2 Ghz Both stable Both Gaming Rigs Diamond/MSI HD 6870 1Gb X-fire and Diamond HD5770 1Gb Also Hp Notebook 1.65 ghz Dual core amd E-450 8gb Patriot Ram DDR3 Discrete Gpu Hd6320 dedicated ram 1973 mb 15.5 screen |

Was a bit curious how much it helped. MS recalled that hotfix as it was suppose to be two hotfixes and the one got released by mistake. Some report that they tried just the one and had problems and it actually hurt the performance.

Well, all I can say is that my lowest score in WEI is now the CPU @ 7.2. But I have to really say that over all the system seems faster and by that I mean programs like MS office pop open ASAP, spreadsheets pop open, IE pops right up and I am using the same hardware that was in my old ASUS AM3 rig except for the MB, ram and CPU which are new, the drives, graphic card, nics, DVD, sound card etc, etc are all the same.
CPU 7.2
Memory 7.6
Graphic 7.8
Hard Disk 7.7 - note that I have a 120GB SATA III SSD as primary drive | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home build OS Windows 7 Pro x64 CPU AMD FX 4100 4 Core 3.6GHz AM3+ Motherboard ASROCK 970 Extreme3 Memory 16GB G.Skill RipjawsX Graphics Card Radeon 6850 Sound Card ASUS Xonar D1 Monitor(s) Displays ASUS 23" LCD PSU 700W Case Antec 100 Cooling Hyper 212 Plus Hard Drives SSD 120GB
