What is the total number of fans in your rig. Yes a new and exciting thread. No this isn't a competition but an exercise in cooling idea's. Yes I have a good number of fans spinning in my case and believe it or not it's very quiet. No I haven't a single free spot to place another.
16 fans counting my side panel 200mm not shown. | My System Specs |

Im with you there Just because you have alot of fans mean nothing after a while it is just over-kill
You can have 12 fans blowing in the case but if the temps have already hit peak operation status that's all your going to get sometimes less fans gives a better peak on performance because you don't have 20 other fans blowing around counteracting the other fans | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Built by me FX - Series Scorpious OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit sp1 CPU Vishera FX 8350 Oc' 4.812Ghz 1.488 V-core full load 50c Motherboard Asus Sabertooth 990fx rev 2.0 Memory 16gb Corsair Vengeance ram 1600mhz Oc'ed to 1750mhz Graphics Card VisionTek HD7970 Ghz.ed Bios Crossfire 1150/1560 power 10% Sound Card AC97 Monitor(s) Displays 27" ViewSonic 1920/1080dp hdmi 37in vizio hdmi dual monitors Screen Resolution 1920x1080 27"- 1920x1080 37" Keyboard Logitech wireless keyboard Mouse Logitech wireless mouse PSU HX1050w Corsair Silver 80plus certified crosfire/sli Case Thermaltake Element V Cooling Antec 620 Water cooling system and 4 120 mm LED fans Hard Drives Ocz Agility 120Gb SSD Seagate baracuda 500 Gb WD Mybook 500Gb Internet Speed Cable 25+ mb Antivirus WebRoot Spysweeper with Antivirus Browser IE-9, Chrome, Opera Other Info I have 2 systems FX AM3+ 8350-K15 Oc'ed 4.812Ghz AM2+ 965 BE Stock 3.4 Ghz Both stable Both Gaming Rigs Also Hp Notebook 1.65 ghz Dual core amd E-450 8gb Patriot Ram DDR3 Discrete Gpu Hd6320 dedicated ram 1973 mb 15.5 screen |

I agree. A lot of fans might seem a good idea to some, but unless your case is designed for so many and you pay careful attention when installing them (orientation and air flow rate), you can run into problems where the natural air flow is disrupted to such an extent that instead of helping to cool your system you are inadvertently helping to keep it warm or hot.
Not counting the CPU/GPU/PSU fans, I only have 2 on my system. It should be remembered that the function of any fan is to assist with the natural flow of air through the system. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dwarf Dwf/11/2012 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Service Pack 1 CPU Intel Core-i5-3570K 4-core @ 3.4GHz (Ivy Bridge) (OC 4.2GHz) Motherboard ASRock Z77 Extreme4-M Memory 4 x 4GB DDR3-1600 Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B (16GB) Graphics Card 2 x AMD Radeon HD7770 1GB CrossFired (OC 1100MHz/1250MHz) Sound Card Realtek High Definition on board solution (ALC 898) Monitor(s) Displays ViewSonic VA1912w Widescreen (VGA) Screen Resolution 1440x900 Keyboard Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard 3000 (USB) Mouse Microsoft Comfort Mouse 3000 for Business (USB) PSU XFX Pro Series 850W Semi-Modular Case Gigabyte IF233 Cooling 1 x 120mm Front Inlet 1 x 120mm Rear Exhaust Hard Drives OCZ Agility 3 SSD 120GB SATA III x2 (RAID 0)

It's interesting to read all the differences and people are still happy with the cooling performance. I'm very happy and as I've added very tight mesh filter material for all intakes this works well for dust but cuts down air flow. Please post any interior shots of the fans as I hope that people will get ideas for air flow. I live in an area where in Summer the room ambient will exceed 90f so extra cooling is the only way my system remains in a safe zone. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number A blend of brains, brawn and dumb luck, ask me about rig #2 ! Let's see,
The small fan on my Intel Stock cooler on my Q9550 CPU
The fan on my eVGA GTX 570 video card.
There is also a fan in my Corsair HX 620 power supply.
3 x 120mm case fans. 1 in the top, 1 in the upper back, and 1 between my hard drive cage and my power supply at the bottom. All of these are Antec Tri-Cool's and are set at the lowest speed possible. I'm about 99% ready to shut down that one between the hard drive cage and power supply as I don't find it needed at all. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self-Built in July 2009 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz OC'd to 3.40Ghz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R rev. 1.1, F12 BIOS Memory 8GB G.Skill PI DDR2-800, 4-4-4-12 timings Graphics Card EVGA 1280MB Nvidia GeForce GTX570 Sound Card Realtek ALC899A 8 channel onboard audio Monitor(s) Displays 23" Acer x233H Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard ABS M1 Mechanical Mouse Logitech G9 Laser Mouse PSU Corsair 620HX modular Case Antec P182 Cooling stock Hard Drives Intel X25-M 80GB Gen 2 SSD
