Very happy to hear that you have a mobo that's working. I'm a fan of Asus, Gigabyte and Intel mobos. It's all that I pretty much use.

As I get into it, I found the Gigabyte motherboard is made by Foxconn. I have an old Dell (Dimension E510) and the Dell OEM motherboard in that is a Foxconn. I have a system with an Intel motherboard and it too is made by Foxconn.

Foxconn is responsible for most of the boards in servers as well.

How did you determine that?

I'd like to check my own Gigabyte board out.

I thought I saw a cable TV documentary of some kind a few months back about a Gigabyte "factory" of some type, but maybe they do subcontract some stuff---or maybe Foxconn owns them outright?

I've had Intel boards made by Foxconn and never had a problem.

A lot of these companies had their own factories it Taiwan for many years. But some have moved production to China and may be using Foxconn. They still do their own design work and specify the parts but the work is done by someone else.

Several connectors on the board have Foxconn written on them.

Look at the picture of the rear I/O panel on the Gigabyte web site. You will see "Foxconn" written on one connector.

^ Silly, that's because FoxConn made that connector used by Gigabyte on their board.

I looked at Gigabytes 2010 annual report and it has a history of the company. They have a plant in Taiwan and have 2 plants in China. They make their own MB but probably just got that connector from Foxconn as most manufacturers source their small parts from other companies.
