I Google the Asus MBO you have and came up with a ton of information. Give that a shot, and if you still are having problems come back for more help. Will check this tomorrow evening to see if you have found an answer to your question. Good Luck.

Hi Jon,

You have a H series motherboard and a K series CPU, the K- series CPU is a great overclocker, but the motherboard you have was not designed to overclock. You should really have either a P67 or a Z77 motherboard to get the best overclocking results from your CPU.

You may be able to overclock a bit using the H-series, but I must admit I know very little about them other than they were more of a budget board and not specifically designed for overclocking.

Your best bet is to do some research online for overclocking with your specific board, that should tell you one way or the other if you can get a bit of an overclock with it. But take your time and be sure to take in all the information before attempting it.

Hope this helps

Paul.

Thanks again

No worries, I must admit it's a strange combination of CPU and board though, as the 2700k is a fantastic overclocker and can hit 5ghz (if done right with the right cooling).

Maybe in the future if you get bored you can upgrade the motherboard and do a bit of overclocking
