It's Dependant on the motherboard and BIOS, most CPUs don't limit the RAM frequency, there is a ceiling where the system won't function. The limits you find in CPU info is the recommended max RAM frequency, overclocking can go above those limits if the BIOS has settings allowing it.
The previous gen AMD CPUs had trouble running RAM above 1333MHz but that can be stabilized by increasing the NB Frequency and adjusting other BIOS settings. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number 76~2.0 OS Windows 7 Ult x64 - SP1/ Windows 8 Pro x64 CPU Intel Core i5-3570K 4.6GHz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X UD3H, f18 Memory 8GB (2X4GB) DDR3 1600 Corsair Vengeance CL8 1.5v Graphics Card Sapphire HD 7770 Vapor-X OC 1GB DDR5 Sound Card Onboard VIA VT2021 Monitor(s) Displays 22" LCD Dell Screen Resolution 1680x1050 Keyboard Logitech Wave Mouse CM Sentinel PSU Corsair HX650W Case Cooler Master Storm Scout Cooling Corsair H80 2x12cm Noctua NF P12 , 2x14cm case fans Hard Drives Samsung 840Pro 128GB SSD,

That mobo support 1333 MHz, but the CPU doesn't. In my case, G630 have 1066 fsb, so I can't use that 1333 MHz from ram. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 CPU Intel Pentium G630 @2.7GHz 3MB Motherboard Asus P8H61-M LX3 PLUS Memory Corsair 4GB DDR3 / 1066MHz 9-9-9-24 2T Graphics Card Intel HD Graphics Sound Card Integrated Monitor(s) Displays Philips 192EL Screen Resolution 1366 x 768 Keyboard Delux K5108 Mouse Genius PSU Hantol 500W Case Delux costumized... I got this module: Corsair Memory Attachment 224647
When I set ram freq. in BIOS on 1333MHz, pc is not starting. I got: Overclocking error.
It's set on auto, and it's working on 1066MHz.
Why I got this ? The mobo can handle up to 1333(1600 OC), and the module is 1333MHz. Ive did some research, and the reason (for ex) my pc isnt working with 1333MHz frequency its becouse of the processor, CELERON, only supports 1066MHz Max for each memory.
I have the same motherboard as u, thats why i was searching for an answer for this prob... | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number ASUS OS Windows 7 Ultimate - 64bit CPU Intel CELERON G530 Motherboard ASUS - P8H61-M LX3 PLUS Memory 4GB 1333MHz - Only 1066MHz Supported Graphics Card On Board Intel HD Graphycs 1GB |

Yes, I already found that. G630 is working only with 1066 speed. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 CPU Intel Pentium G630 @2.7GHz 3MB Motherboard Asus P8H61-M LX3 PLUS Memory Corsair 4GB DDR3 / 1066MHz 9-9-9-24 2T Graphics Card Intel HD Graphics Sound Card Integrated Monitor(s) Displays Philips 192EL Screen Resolution 1366 x 768 Keyboard Delux K5108 Mouse Genius PSU Hantol 500W Case Delux costumized...
