that's the minimum i can go for the vcore on the 4.8ghz oc. but just doing that for fun. i never run it for long period of time. and i cant benchmark with it because the temp goes to high now and i actually score lower than with my 4.4ghz oc which temp are pretty ok and safe to run @100%CPU use. | My System Specs |

Well, I found the wall, 4.8GHz 1.304v (DVID +0.140v) boots fine but crashes when starting IBT.
Didn't want to go anymore on the voltage.
4.7GHz 1.284v passes IBT average temp mid/upper 80's.
Going to run at 4.6GHz 1.224v average IBT temps mid 80's.

even thought our Tech is worlds apart I found a wall at 4.8Ghz and the same reason voltages wise was the reason i didn't want to push further
It's so fun reaching those high clocks but how much do you really notice even when Encoding movies they still appear to be around the same decompression and burn time
So sometimes I ask myself how much Benefit am I actually getting from where i was before and now especially going with a better cpu then the previous | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Built by me FX - Series Scorpious OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit sp1 CPU Vishera FX 8350 Oc' 4.812Ghz 1.488 V-core full load 50c Motherboard Asus Sabertooth 990fx rev 2.0 Memory 16gb Corsair Vengeance ram 1600mhz Oc'ed to 1750mhz Graphics Card VisionTek HD7970 Ghz.ed Bios Crossfire 1150/1560 power 10% Sound Card AC97 Monitor(s) Displays 27" ViewSonic 1920/1080dp hdmi 37in vizio hdmi dual monitors Screen Resolution 1920x1080 27"- 1920x1080 37" Keyboard Logitech wireless keyboard Mouse Logitech wireless mouse PSU HX1050w Corsair Silver 80plus certified crosfire/sli Case Thermaltake Element V Cooling Antec 620 Water cooling system and 4 120 mm LED fans Hard Drives Ocz Agility 120Gb SSD Seagate baracuda 500 Gb WD Mybook 500Gb Internet Speed Cable 25+ mb Antivirus WebRoot Spysweeper with Antivirus Browser IE-9, Chrome, Opera Other Info I have 2 systems FX AM3+ 8350-K15 Oc'ed 4.812Ghz AM2+ 965 BE Stock 3.4 Ghz Both stable Both Gaming Rigs Also Hp Notebook 1.65 ghz Dual core amd E-450 8gb Patriot Ram DDR3 Discrete Gpu Hd6320 dedicated ram 1973 mb 15.5 screen |

Nice job Dave. Great overclock. I also agree with you and Solar. Pretty much, my experience has been that anything over 4.5 is just for show. But, I can't help myself, I have to play in bios every once in a while. Why else do we buy these rigs? | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built- Always under construction OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 X64/ linux in VM CPU Intel i7-3770K Motherboard Asus Maximus V Extreme Z77 Memory 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws Z DDR3-2400 (2X4GB) Graphics Card EVGA GTX 670 SC 4GB Sound Card On Board Monitor(s) Displays Asus 24" LCD Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Logitech G510 Mouse Logitech G500 PSU CORSAIR AX850 Case Cooler Master HAF X Cooling Custom Water Cooling Hard Drives Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB, Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB, Samsung 830 256GB, Samsung HD103SJ 1TB . Solar,
Can I ask for your settings on your 8350 OC? Not only multiplier, vcore nad FSB, but also nb voltage, cpu nb voltage, HT speed and voltage, LLC settings, ram settings, etc...
I'll be finishing my rebuild with the new 8320 and new mobo this evening and now that I have a better cooler I would like to experiment! | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom built OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU AMD FX 8320 4.8GHz, 1.475V Motherboard ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z Memory 4 x GSkill Ripjaws Z 4GB 1600 CL8 Graphics Card 2 x ASUS HD7870 2GB DirectCu II Sound Card M-Audio Firewire 410 Monitor(s) Displays 2 x Samsung Syncmaster SA300 Screen Resolution 1600x900 Keyboard Corsair Vengeance 650 Mouse Elephant Leviathan 3200 DPI PSU Corsair TX850M Case NZXT Switch 810 Cooling Custom Water. Dave,
Nice OC!
Not that I know much about Intel (or AMD ), but looks awesome.

Yes Steve, thank you.
The package with the MX-2, the Arctic clean and some other last minute additions has just arrived.
One more question regarding the H100. Both you and Alan told me, in another thread, that you got better results by pushing cool air IN through the radiator, and maintaining positive air pressure, rather than pushing air from inside the case through it.
My only concern with this setup is dust. Would it impact performance much if I attached air filters (aluminum mesh, not extremely restrictive) on the bottom of the radiator or on top of the fans? Of course I would have to clean them on a regular basis. All my other intakes are filtered, and so far the case has stayed pretty clean.
Thanks again Steve.

@ Bungee, I have the fans on my H100 pushing air from inside the case up through the radiator but my rear fan is set as an intake. I get good temps and dust isn't a problem aslong as i clean the filters. I've not tested the other way around though.
I think it all depends on your case and other fans which makes the difference. everyone's setup is slightly different in some way but the difference in temps is not going to be major anyway really | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom build OS win7 home prem x64 SP1 CPU AMD Fx 6100 4.5GHz, 1.44v Motherboard Asus Crosshair V Formula 990fx Memory Corsair Vengeance1600 8GB (2x4) 9,9,9,24,2T Graphics Card Palit GTX670 Jetstream 2GB 2 way sli Sound Card Onboard SupremeFX X-Fi 2 Monitor(s) Displays Hanns G HL231, x2 Screen Resolution 3840X1080 Keyboard Coolermaster Quickfire Pro Mouse Cyborg MMO 7 PSU Corsair Ax 850 80plus Gold Case Corsair carbide 500R Cooling Corsair H100, 2 Cougar Vortex 120mm Hard Drives OCZ Agility3 120GB
