Have to agree, I wouldn't consider a Sandforce controller, too many problems and some with poor support.
Good choice for the 840Pro, mine is great. | My System Specs |

New toys These are my latest additions.
The external fan controller is fantastic, but it was a bit of a pain to install because of the 5 temperature probes.
The hot swap trays work amazingly well for a budget thing. SSD performance is the same than when connected directly to mobo. By adding it I got rid of the HDD cage in my case.
Cheers,

Cheers,
J Nice fan controller Bungee. I've been thinking about getting one with an interface as the stock controller in this case is only a switch. Nice job, Bungee. keep up the good work. Just keep adding stuff to the rig, but be careful. It is habit forming, and can become a real addiction. Thank you guys!
I really enjoyed myself with this build, but need to take a break and actually use the rig. Besides I do not have any slots or bays left!
The only additional things I could do is add the other 16GB of RAM I have, but I don't think I'd be able to maintain my overclock with it installed on this board, and switch the PSU for a a heftier one.
I'm actually starting to to do some research for a new build, an Intel/nVidia based one this time.
Actually, I have some questions for you Intel and watercooling gurus. I'm thinking watercooled Z77 and a 3750K, but I have the following doubts: I'm considering the Z77 Sabertooth board and one 680 or 2 670s. Are two PCIE 3.0 slots at x8 as fast as 2 PCIE 2.0 at x16? The board supports up to 1866 memory, is this fast enough for this processor? Does TRIM work well on the Z77 for RAID 0 SSds?
Watercooling, this one's for Steve and Aslisgevat: So far I think it is going to be an XSPC Raystorm waterblock, a Laing DCC 3.1 or 3.2 pump (should I go for high pressure, flow, or both?), some mixed rads (1 2x140 or 3x120 Magicool or Phobya, and 1 1x120 dual thickness XSPC) and a dual bay reservoir (either Magicool or XSPC). Are these components a good choice? Regarding GPU cooling: are universal mount waterblocks any good or should I look for cards for which full cover is available? Any advice on fan selection? Should I go for high static pressure, as with the H100, although the rad specs state they are optimized for low air flow fans? What kind of controller will I need to control the pump?
I think that's it for now.
Thanks a lot.
Cheers,

As far as the PCIe 3.0, yes. PCIe 3.0 is twice as fast as pcie 2.0, so 3.0 at X8 is the same as 2.0 at X16. Pretty sure that's correct. Although it may matter in the future, but I don't think the cards are fast enough to take advantage right now. Trim does work on raid 0 SSDs, but it will not help you in reality. It does not affect the 4kb read speeds or response times, which is about 90% of what an OS drive does. I've tried it and went back to a single SSD. As for water cooling the MCP 355 or 655 are probably the most popular and the best. They make a lot of variants of those two, but are basically the same pump. look at the different types, many you are able to regulate speed of the pump. I run my VPP655 on the highest setting and hear nothing. The XSPC RX Rads are very good. Watch the fin count on the rads, lower Fins per inch mean lower RPM fans which directly relates to noise. The XSPC RX fans are 60mm thick and less than 8 FPI which means lower RPM fans. There are a lot of good fans out, but it seems the better ones are pretty expensive for 120mm fans. Probably the most popular are the Gentile Typhoons. The Raystorm blocks are pretty good and probably better than most. That's what I have. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built- Always under construction OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 X64/ linux in VM CPU Intel i7-3770K Motherboard Asus Maximus V Extreme Z77 Memory 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws Z DDR3-2400 (2X4GB) Graphics Card EVGA GTX 670 SC 4GB Sound Card On Board Monitor(s) Displays Asus 24" LCD Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Logitech G510 Mouse Logitech G500 PSU CORSAIR AX850 Case Cooler Master HAF X Cooling Custom Water Cooling Hard Drives Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB, Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB, Samsung 830 256GB, Samsung HD103SJ 1TB . Thanks Steve. I'll do more research on the pump and rads and probably get back to you with more questions.
