As best as you can make sure the slot and the cross bars in the bottom of the slot have no extra pieces of plastic in the way.

I had a RAM slot that wouldn't let the stick seat properly on this ASUS board.
When I looked closely and compared it to a slot that did work it had a tiny piece of plastic in that one slot left over from the molding process.
Xacto knife trimmed it and no more problem.

It was very small piece of plastic but in the tight slots that was all that was needed. This- * - was bigger than that extra piece was.

If like me clean your reading glasses and drag out the magnifying glass.

cheers chap. gonna have a proppa good luck b4 attempting to put the card and remove all connections off the bottom headers. if it does'nt go in then its got to be somethin else.
we shall see in about an hour.

well i've got good and bad news lol. the good is i now know whats stopping it. the connectors from the front panel ar just that tiny bit too high and only the few that r on the left side of the front panel hearder.

the bad
i switched the cards just to make sure the second card was working as i had'nt tested it yet. booted up fine but then 30s later it red screened.

@Ryan: It appears from the pics you would have room in the 3rd slot? you might re-check the power connectors on the 2nd card to make sure they are fully connected. even a tiny bit out and it won't work properly.

@Mark: Good luck on de-lidding the i7 and not cutting you fingers. I have rad the heat spreader is not soldered on so hopefully it comes off without pulling the die with it.

it was the third slot that i used mate. the second slot is just in view under the first card. the connecters that connect to the front panel header are whats stopping it but only the couple on the left side of the header. on the cooler itself it has an angled (diagonal) and if that angle started just a little bit sooner it would be clear. if i were to use the fourth slot it would be blocked even more by the same connectors. if i was to remove part of the coolers corner it would fit

thanks for the warning about the power connectors but i had just placed the card in place to take the pic. so did'nt bother to connect the power as the card was comming straight out.

im pretty sure the red screens are caused by aida64 as it happend pretty much as aida started. it also happend with the card ive been using for the last few days. aparently the beta version 2.30.1911 solved this but i was using the latest version and it still happend.
so now ive gotta swap the cards again just to make sure the red screens are being caused by aida64.
then if all is good i can come bk to sussing how to get the second card in. ie am i brave enought to take a dremmel to the cards cooler

Did you see my post a while back regarding needing a long SLI bridge? I don't think you answered, do you have one? As you will need one if you are going to run them in SLI.
