how to slow down the CPU fan on a desktop motherboard?

The fan runs about 4700 rpm all the time.
The fan is slightly out of balance so a small vibration can be felt.

How can I slow it down?
Board is S8875WP1-e

Go into the bios and see if their are any options to change the fan speed.

You might want to consider replacing the heatsink/fan assembly. You mention a vibration-this is a warning that the fan will fail at some point. There are a number of choices available depending on what CPU you have. Fan speed control sometimes requires a 4 wire connector to the motherboard.

Good luck

I went into bios and it is set to slowdown if needed.
However, it is cool enough not to run so fast.

I looked at speedfan and can not comprehend the program.

The vibration is slightly annoying, and I dont like it vibrating the board.
Put your finger in it and you can feel the vibration.
A regular 3 pin connector for fan. CPU is a 478 pentium 4

Check it, find out why it`s vibrating, did something come loose, a hold down pin or screw ? Or is it the fan itself ? If you nee a new fan you could try here.

or if it`s proprietary you will have to order it from your pc maker.

I would start by cleaning the entire intake and exhaust fans if so installed and then clean the fan and fins on the CPU cooler and any other system fans and any GPU card if any. Then report back and let us know if the sound and vibration continues. As previously mentioned check for all mobo screws and the CPU mount for tightness, check any other attached items hard drives and the like for secure mounting. Clean with compressed air and a small paint brush and get all dust off and out of case and off fans !
