I need to overclock ALL together? hi there.....
are you getting poor performance currently..??
you'll see more of an FPS boost OCing the CPU rather than the GPU, i personally try to steer clear of OCing GFX cards.....they're built with very tight tolerances, & a few extra mhz will usually amount to a lot of heat with the reference cooler.
but there's nothing stopping you trying, the 4890 has been seen to OC pretty well.

depending on your Q6600 and what type of CPU cooler you have. 3.6 is possible. but any bought in the last year Q6600's seem to be poor overclockers..
get a program called Core Temp and tell me what is says under VID for your chip. also is it a B3 or a G0 stepping?
3.2 or 3.4 Ghz should be doable and you need a aftermarket cpu cooler. This will help in games that are more CPU dependant.
also your 4890 will perform better with a faster processor, the slow CPU speed is probably limiting the GPU as of now. even just going to 3.0 Ghz would help and probably be enough | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate Edition x64 CPU Q9650 E0 @ 4.0 GHz 1.304v Motherboard eVGA 750i FTW! Hey XGUNTHERC.
I was looking through your System Specs and noticed your sweet O/C on that 750i chipset.
Im hoping you can help me figure out how to get my Q9400 up to 3Ghz or maybe a little higher.
I've done some research on it and found that the 750i can be a pain to overclock.
Im wondering if your EVGA bios made it easier to overclock or am i able to use your settings on my XFX board.
any info will be greatly appreciated

I did some quick Google searching for your relative Motherboard + Processor combo and came up with this quote: Quote: I'm at an easy 3GHz (9x333) @ 1.2625v (yet to test lower voltage. The DS4 runs the Q6600 fine at 3.6GHz @ around 1.46 to 1.475v and all other overvolts on normal. Am running 3GHz and going to optimize my DDR timings now. By the way 3GHz is 10hrs Prime95 stable. My DQ6 was having trouble attaining 9x333, but that may have been caused by my approach to the overclock on that board. Quote: Simple version: Go into your BIOS, go to MIT, enable the bus speed, then change the number from 266MHz to 400Mhz. Then change the CPU multiplier down from 9 to 8. After that go to the voltages and change it to Manual. Once there change the CPU voltage to 1.35. In that same menu change the RAM multiplier from Auto to 2.5
Then go out of MIT and go to the PC Health and disable all fan control, and put the CPU warning tempurature at 65°c. Proceed to Advanced chipset (I think it is) and disable all the options that you don't need, such as virtualization technology, C1E, Speed step, as all of these things will limit the overclockablity.
And that's pretty much it, your CPU should be fully functional at 3.6GHz.
Download Prime95 v256 and run a torture test over night with small ftts.
Between those two posts, it should get you your clock speeds and voltage requirements - adjust as necessary.. 3.6 is quite common on air cooling for the q6600. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Premium (OEM) CPU AMD Phenom x4 955 BE @ 3.2GHz Motherboard ASUS Crosshair III Memory 8gigs (4x2gb) Mushkin DDR3 Graphics Card EVGA GeForce 260 GTX 216 core 896mb Sound Card SoundBlaster X-Fi Fatal1ty Pro Monitor(s) Displays 26.5" Samsung ToC, 22" Samsung 226BW Screen Resolution 1920x1200 & 1680x1050 Keyboard Razer Tarantula Mouse Razer Imperator w/ Razer Goliathus Precision Mat PSU Thermaltake ToughPower 750w Case CoolerMaster Scout CMStorm Black Edition Cooling 2x140mm Intake/Exhaust, 1x120mm Exhaust, 2x120mm Side Intake Hard Drives 2x WD Caviar Black AAKS 500gigs (RAID 0)
