Windows 7: nVidia GT230M Overclock

nVidia GT230M Overclock

Just wondering if anybody has some good numbers to overclock my gt230m to using the nVidia system performance tools? I have 3 options
Graphics clock: max of 1000 Mhz
Memory clock: max of 948 Mhz
Processor clock: max of 2200 Mhz
The card is in my HP Pavilion dv7 running Intel Core i7, Windows 7 Professional. I want some numbers that will make it as fast as possible without frying something. Haven't really noticed any lag in games yet, well a few hiccups in Just Cause 2, but I want max performance if possible. Thanks in advance.

Try using Evga precision it's a much easier way to overclock your card and allows you to raise the clocks in smaller increments it also allows you to control your fan speed. |MG| EVGA Precision 1.9.5 Download Every card even identical cards will clock differently so no one can definitively tell you what to clock your card to, it's more a trial and error process. Raise your clock speeds a little at a time till it won't run at that speed then back it down a couple of notches. Always keep track of the heat because it will also be a determining factor in what speed you eventually decide to run more heat equals shorter life span of your card. Fabe

I would NOT overclock your laptop. Laptops have enough heat issues as it is, and this will only make it worse.

I would agree with Lordbob on this even with a laptop cooler your gain would not out wieght the risk of overheating your laptop and definaltly shorting the life span of it. You asked how so I explained but should have also added it wasn't a good idea preformance boost wouldn't be worth the risk.Fabe

Thanks for the help so far, did benchmarks without anything done to the card, my temp was running from 75 to 80. Did a minor O/C (around 100Mhz) to everything...temp stayed the same. Did another (around 200Mhz) temp stayed the same. I noticed that I can't change my fan speed, not sure if I have an option in the power settings checked that is locking me out of changing it or if it just has to stay automatic. It doesn't kick in any louder or more often with or without the O/C. All my temps stay the same so I might keep the O/C at the 250 range...or I might not, not really seeing any framerate change or anything. I'm thinking that with CUDA and the i7 it is doing the same as an overclock (to the extents that I can while using a laptop) will anyways.
