not sure if overclocking will work

I'm new to overclocking, haven't overclocked anything before, but i'm thinking of overclocking my core 2 duo E6600 as I realised theyre great for overclocking.

However I don't know whether overclocking will work with my CPU. Are there any limitations or does overclocking work on every single CPU?

Saroy, Overclocking can be done on more or less any computer. However, if you have a prebuilt computer from a company like Dell or HP, the BIOS may be locked and you will be unable to overclock.

If you have a laptop, don't even consider OCing.

Almost all pre-builts lock thier bios.

Likely because the chance a bad OC (excessive voltage etc) can damage hardware is pretty good. So they lock them to prevent anything like this happening.

ahh :\ I wanted to overclock it aswell, seeing as a lot of people have overclocked the same CPU over 3.0Ghz, would have been awesome.
