Looks like a great build. Since you're going to be encoding, depending on your application(s) of choice, I would suggest going with a GTX 460 because of CUDA. I know some applications take advantage of the GPU and with CUDA, that could become really useful.

ATI has GPU accelerated encoding as well.

Eitherway, IMHO the GPU accelerated encoding (For either Nvidia or ATI) simply doesnt stand up quality wise to a encoder such as, MeGUi x264 or Handbrake, for example. You have far more control over settings and quality, as well as formats,containers etc.

Are GPU accelerated encoders faster? YES
But theres a reason for that, and IMHO not worth using.

The higher quality settings you use, the better quality the final product. It will also take longer to encode.

I know there may be many that disagree, but just my take on it.

Either card should treat you well for gaming and most everything else however.
I honestly believe this really is preference for the most part.

Well, the Intel Core i5-750 pretty much performs on par or better than the 1090TBE. Plus, the Intel Core i5-750 is $100 cheaper than the 1090T BE.

So, considering the i7-930 is a higher end processor, it too should out perform the 1090T and it's still a bit cheaper than the AMD.

Unless you are a diehard AMD fan, I don't see this as really being a choice. I think the decision is clear.

Agreed. I'd go for the Intel 930 build. I think Gigabyte mobos are the muts nuts. Also a big fan of Noctua products and, indeed, all your other components.
I would, however, choose the Nvidia 460 (especially the Palit Sonic Platinum version). That choice is based on the excellent reviews this card has received and my own previous experience with Nvidia cards.
I've never owned an ATI card so it is just a personal preference.

In the x264 encoding benchmarks the i7-930 was just 90 points short of the x6 Phenoms score for the same encode.
(which really doesnt amount to much of a difference)

But it's worth pointing out:
that the i7 930 was also at its stock 2.8 ghz
the AMD x6 was overclocked to 3.8ghz
To be that close at 1000mhz difference in speed is just ... well yea

That's an excellent result Wishmaster. I run an i7 920 at 4Ghz with a Noctua HSF and it runs at that speed comfortably. My temps range around the mid 40s to mid 50s under load and the whole box is very quiet considering there are 11 fans in it.
I don't know whether the OP will be into overclocking but he really doesn't need to with results like that:)
