Nice rig, but you need a bigger case so you can add more HDDs

    And one of these

Hello everyone, This has to be one of my favorite threads I love to check out all the great looking rigs. Here is mine again I installed a second 240 Gig SSD set up a Raid array clean installed Windows and overclocked to 3.9. The result was the best WEI I have ever acheived. I do not intend keeping the overclock which will drop me back to 7.5 but I think it shows X58 platform still has a lot of life in it.

As much as I can get.
I am currently all tapped out on internal sata ports, 8 for hard drives and 1 for the BD/HD-DVD/DVD-RW. I've got 4 externals sitting on my computer speaker too.

    kellymac,
That is an even more impressive rig than before. Do you feel you're getting a real world benefit from the raid'd ssd's?

Hey Alan how you doing buddy? I have been following your upgrades, your rig is looking sharp also my friend. As for the SSD in raid I would say most definatley as far as speed and storage goes however you do loose the trim command but one thing you can do to maintain proformance of your raid array is to log and let the system idle for several hours a few times a week. This will allow the "garbage collection" algorithm built into the sandforce controller to do it's thing.

    Kelly,
I toyed with the idea when upgrading from my 64gb C300 to the 128gb m4 ssd. I called and asked Crucial about adding a second 64gb but running them as JBOD to increase capacity. They said it would work but can take a bit of effort to maximize set up, so I opted for the easier single larger 128 arrangement. But to hear how this has worked for you I may bide my time and wait for the m4 128 to fall in price and score a second on the cheap.....if that term can be used referring to a ssd.....lol.
    Cheers my friend !

Thats the thing Alan I have done the 60 Gig SSD thing and no matter how you set it up 60 gigs is just not enough storage. I have close to 100 steam titles and I prefere to have them installed on my SSD the set up I have now gives me around 450 gigs SSD storage but it wasnt cheap.
