just finished upgrading my rig today!

i kept the case, the dusty cards and drive and ripped out the old dual-core mobo/cpu/ram/fan and replaced with new Sandy Bridge i5 2500K and 8 gigs of ram goodness. :) maybe i'll stick an i7 in there one day...

    Attachment 179533

i think i may have put the heatsink/fan the wrong way round, but hey-ho, it still keeps it cool.

i used a mobo auto-overclocking feature to crank the cpu from 3.3 to 4.2 GHz - I'm sure it'll go higher if i spend some time mucking around with voltages, not sure if i'll need to yet...maybe on a rainy day.

couldn't be bothered to do any benchmarking, but this new rig sure seems a lot swifter than it used to be.
    Good one Angelo

    Nice setup!

But yeah the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro is flip-flopped. But if the temps are OK that is an easy correction for another day...

Definitely a nice laptop! What kind of hard drive does it have in it? It looks like the hard drive is holding it back. Get a SSD and that # will go up along with overall performance!

    PS: Need this logo

I was going to say the same thing, get a ssd but also get a usb enclosure and run the spinner for the data and back ups. Nice rig and very solid scores.

Good Morning Everyone (or whatever part of the day it is where you are at),

I have updated some of my stuff in my PC for the upcoming BF3!

I had a 512MB nVidia 9800GTX+ video card but that would not handle the BF3 Beta..

So I upgraded that to a MSi 2GB HD 6950 PE/OC (see pic below - not my pic)

Since I only had a 500w Antec PSU I figured I'd upgrade that while I was at it.

I went with the OCZ 700w Mod-Extreme Pro (see pic below - not my pic)

I also went from Windows 7 Home 32-bit to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
