You have to realize that this is an Intel "Value offering" and the V is not as fast as the M. But it is still about 4x the speed of a 7200RPM Spinner.

Indeed. I am getting it repaired by HP, and want a nice fast machine

I do recommend the X25 V 40GB SSD to anyone looking to get into the SSD experience.

It's a great way to see how they increase performance.

Mine will migrate into my dual HDD bay laptop in the next couple of months, waiting for the 25nm drives to arrive.

I just found this, mainly because there is a MicroCenter 10 minutes from work and 25 minutes from home.
Same controller and MLC technology as the Vertex 2, but cheaper.
Possibly a Vertex 2 in Micro Center clothing?
You decide. But for 99 bucks, it's a steal IMO.
