That is a pretty good price. Last time I looked they were over $500. I wonder though whether the IPS is so much better - does anybody have experience with that type of screen?

I don't have a Dell IPS flat panel yet...but am planning on getting one. I've been looking at the U2410. I've got an older Dell UltraSharp 18.1 flatpanel and it's still by far the nicest flatpanel I have (I've got a 17" Dell, a 19" samsung and a 23" acer).

These lesser expensive Dell's are intriguing, but I think I still want the U2410 for the 1920x1200 resolution, HDMI ports and built-in card reader. Of course, it's also $540 usually as well...so it comes with a cost.

As far as whether they are worth it....I think absolutely. The difference is very noticeable. It's sad that we spend so much time and money on our rigs and skimp on our monitors. Sadly though, I've spent so much money lately between a huge tax bill this year, car repairs and going on vacation in 1 week, and needing to get the kids a fancy swingset...that my computer purchases are having to take a backseat at the present time.

I have a Dell 2408WFP which is S-PVA and I have a friend who has a Dell IPS panel.
Both tehnologies beat TN in terms of true colour (which you can calibrate accurately) and viewing angles.
You can use an IPS (or PVA) panel like a TV. They have very wide viewing angles.
Also brilliant colours, true whites and blacks and so on.
Also both of these technologies suffer from some input lag so may not be suitable for hard core gamers.
I game on my S-PVA panel and don't notice any problem and IPS is supposed to be better in this regard.
Basically they look superb next to a TN panel and this is a very good price.
I'd snap one up if I were you as Dell's pricing plicy seems to jump from the sublime to the ridiculous.
Another superb IPS panel is the NEC Multisync EA231WMAi, which comes in at about £290 and is beautiful in terms of looks and build quality imho:)
