I would be interested as well. This should go for significantly less than the i7, and is overclockable, and therefor a candidate for my next upgrade.

AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition Review vs Intel Core i7-950 - Introduction

It's probably hot on the heals of the i7 860, but it's less than $300, so the i7's will still outclass it in most tests, but not by a romp. A Guy

    Maybe apples to oranges??

If you're into benching and absolute top performance, then Intel is still the choice, but that does come with a much heftier price tag as a result. On the AMD side, the 1100T is priced about $265, which is a fantastic value. So, the same thing that's been said for quite some time will be repeated here again: for value, AMD has produced another outstanding CPU. If you want the best bang for your buck, you really can't beat a chip like the 1100T.

Value is truly what it all about. If I can get 8/10th's or 9/10th's for a 3rd the price then really is there any questions left to ask? If you're all about PassMark and WEI or achieving some holly grail bragging rights then go for the Intel. The savings on the chip alone allow you to spend monies on other upgrades. Brilliant just brilliant.

This assumes that you have to compare it to the Intel Core i7-980X which is about $1,000.

However, the point is that it might compete performance wise with the Intel Core i7-870 which is only $279. So, unless the AMD chip is less than $100....it's not 1/3 of the price.

Intel's problem is they change motherboard sockets all the time...2 sockets are dead men walking, and a new one for next year....so you have to look at motherboards and ram too....
