Core i7 875K on ASUS Rampage III Extreme

Plan on doing some small OC'ing. I have no experience. Would first like to know what programs/software I should get to post some benchmarks/temps/volts of current state. I'm using Corsair H50 for cooling.

    Hold up.

    No experience.

You better do some research first mate.

Are you running the latest BIOS update?

Version 1101 looks to be the latest and it states 'improve system stability'

If not, make sure you update to it as you may be running an older version.

You have good cooling so that is a good start.

This tutorial will be a good start, it might say 920/940 i7, but it should be fairly similar.

    And check this as well,

Understand How To Overclock i7 875K For Lightning fast Gaming Performance | Overclock CPU: My No1 Secret to Doubling, If Not Tripling PC Performance using This Powerful CPU Overclocking Method

Do some reading up first, you don't want to fry that chip, supposed to be a good oc'er with an unlocked multiplier. nearly went that route.

    But yeah, do your research!!!

    REMEMBER:: Google is your friend!!

ASUS website says I shouldn't update BIOS unless my system is having problems, which it's not it's been running perfect.(there are also 60 downloads available and must be done one by one, not about to do that)

Thanks for the links, gonna read up.

ALSO IF THERES AN ADMIN HERE I am a complete moron and put wrong MB on the thread name. If it can be changed it should be a Maximus III Extreme

    Hi Cmoazz.

No! Update, you only need the one from the top of the list, none of the others.

Regardless of what ASUS says, UPDATE THAT BIOS.
All ASUS means is the system does'nt need updating when you are only using the PC for what it is, not for when your Overclocking.

It says in the manual how to update your BIOS using BIOS EZ-Updater in the BIOS (Not in Windows, don't take the risk of corrupting your BIOS, always do overclocking and BIOS Updates through BIOS it self)

Put it this way, if you left the BIOS version as you have currently, you may not be able to get any sort of decent Overclock, stable system or you may not even be able to get to 3.0ghz at all.

Do the reasearch and make sure that you have everything up to date, BIOS, windows, graphics, chipset, etc, etc.

    Lucky.
