Likewise, I would take awhile for me to save up that kind of budget.

Like everything else in life it all comes down to priorities of what's important to you. We all have hobbies that we spend money on.

Some people would question why you need to spend hundreds on a golf club, but if golf is your hobby/passion you may see no reason not to spend that type of money. Same goes with computers, or any other hobby/passion.

And like all hobbies there are some things that are just too darn expensive at the moment

It ran me a bit over 2k(us) to build this and I still dont have a SSD or 2nd GPU in it like I want.... I had to Save for a YEAR to be able to build it!!! In that year I was running on a 5+ year old Gateway 6959 laptop and a P4 frankin box slapped together with spare parts from computers people were throwing away because of age!

I looked in your sig and saw your CPU cooler. I've been contemplating one of those since Christmas. Seeing your temps might just push me over the line and make me go and get it.
I like it for what it is. I cheap watercool for cpu only. It works well so far but i am only running stock so far. I had read some threads of people having problems with it.HERE . there are also a few video reviews out there that IMO dont give it the right credit. I went for it anyway and has worked well for me.

    @Dave76:
    Thanks I'll check those out!

    Thanks,
I have not been on in awhile....but as I said earlier in this post,I was looking into OC'ing. Well...... went for it and has worked out pretty good so far....with one (imo) issue ... I can not get SpeedStep to work when it is OC'ed???
I have been running this OC 24/7 for 2 Months-ish , I call it stable!
    Here are some pics.....

From the WEI score you should have a mean mo-sheen when an SSD is added

Nice wall too, is that Stalker's eye you have there?

4.5Ghz ain't too bad, have you tried bumping the bus a tick or two? Your task mgr shows you have 8 CPU cores?

Yeah the W.E.I. and the system is beggin for a SSD but the GF is beggin to quit spending...lol I've got to save up more $$ again! (imo) I still need a SSD, 2nd 570sc,and 3rd monitor.

The wall, not sure it's just a Dual-screen pic I liked and pulled off of Google

I'm new at OC'ing and was looking for a nice 24/7 so I went with 4.5@1.23v. There is not much to OC'ing these 2600k's. Bump the multiplier and tweak the volts! I have not played with much else yet cause I'm still learning and reading. I have booted at 5.0Ghz and ran it about an hour but did not run Prime95 or Intel burntest on it.

Aww gee, just talk her into another $200 or so
Why does your TM show 8 cores? Do you have a two CPU board?
    Thanks for the wall!

It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

Hyperthreading. Each of the four physical cores shows up as two different virtual cores.
