Starting my 2600k build today!

Well after going back and forth if i should do a build, a couple 2600k threads here convinced me it was time lol I am hoping to go 4.4-5ghz range

Just a note, you will notice the low end video card, that was by design, it's just a temp card

Is it wise going with the auto over clock function on the board? Is there an o/c for dummies somewhere lol

It's always preferable to manually adjust key settings (especially anything to do with voltages) when overclocking.

The less Auto, the better.

They are so easy to clock its untrue.

I think you can get upto 4.2 with everything on auto and setting the multiplier to 42.

When you start to go into the higher clocks then its best to set everything yourself like the voltage.

I still don't know what a safe voltage is on these chips for a 24/7 clock so I have mine running at 4.6ghz with a 1.36vcore. Which has been rock stable.

I took it up to 4.9ghz for a short while but it needed over 1.4vcore and until I find out if thats safe I am more than happy with 4.6.

If you run into any issues getting to 4.5ish then give us a shout and I will have a look through my bios to see exactly what I have it set at and what I disabled etc.

I have been reading around all day today just to get as much info as possible prior to building. So far I got this, hopefully I am not misinformed as of yet.

I will be tinkering with the turbo multiplier
I would need to stay below 1.4v vcore (lower the better obviously)

vdimm

I didn't need to mess with any of the things you have listed , it appears mine overclocks so easy its not needed.

From what I can remember I just disabled a few things like the power saving modes , changed the multiplier and vcore and that was it .

Obviously you want coretemp and cpuz installed to monitor your clocks.

Hey guys, just finally got all up and running. I didnt touch any settings yet, I am just getting my drivers installed. Here is a screen shot, does everything look ok? Whats up with the core voltage being under 1?

It looks fine to me.

As I can see from the screen shot the processor is not under full load , the voltage will be on auto in the bios at the moment so it will go up and down when needed.
