Overclock Problem... Help!

I pressed the clr CMOS button but I've ended up with exactly the same problem...

Try pressing it while in the BIOS itself, hopefully this will reset the overclock. :)

That didn't work either.

Just the clarify:

-I turned on the PC
-pressed the DEL key to go into the BIOS setup
-then pressed the clr CMOS button
-and chose to 'save and exit'

Ok, I re-did the clr CMOS process, following a guide here: How to clear the CMOS

I started it up again and it came up with a new menu briefly, before doing the same windows repair failure.

I have no idea where to start with this problem so any help would be really appreciated.

Some more info: I brought the PC and it was 'safe and secure' overclocked by the company I bought it from.

Can you tell me what kind of RAM you have?

Also is it set to auto in the BIOS.

And, What OC'ing speed are you running at?

Also you speed shown in CPU-Z may actually be showing the resting state - which is normal. And yes, the default CPU speed of your 950 should be 3.07.

I too have a i7-950 on a Gigabyte board (X58A-UD5)

And FYI - For my Gigabyte info needs I go to Tweak Town's GIGABYTE forum. Lots of good info.

Try Load Fail-Safe Defaults.

My RAM is : 6GB (3x2GB) PC10666 DDR3/1333mhz Triple Channel Memory (Corsair Value Select)

Though I can't get my PC to even start at all now.

That happens sometimes when you clear the CMOS. Turn the PC off and unplug the power cord. Let it sit for about 5 minutes like that - absolutely no power.

After 5 minutes plug the PC back up and see if it'll start. If so, go into BIOS and "Load Optimized" defaults.

Let us know what happens.

I found a menu which is like this:

Save CMOS settings as...

Profile 1) : No-OC
Profile 2) : No-OC
Profile 3) : No-OC
Profile 4) : No-OC
Profile 5) : CPUK-OC
Profile 6) : CPUK-OC
Profile 7) : CPUK-OC
Profile 8) : CPUK-OC

File in HDD/FDD/USB : Press Enter

This after having cleared the CMOS. Will saving this fix the problem, or just make it worse?
