Build Needs Finishing

Rant: (Optional Info)
I bought new parts to rebuild my pc during September, I put it all together and it worked for a few minutes till I shut it off. The next day I tried to start it up and it worked for 30 seconds before it crashed at the loading screen. In an old thread it was narrowed down to either the Mobo or GPU. I worked for days trying to figure out what it was and if I could fix it to no avail. Still don't know which it is but the mobo constantly had an error msg during post. I only upgraded certain components till I had the money and time to upgrade the CPU, Mobo, and Ram (Which has been the past few months). The only thing I can think of which might have gone wrong was the screwing down of the cpu cooler, which might of been too tight (I don't think so though) besides that I do not know.

Dilemma:
I've been waiting for the Spring Buyers guide from Guru3d to buy the new components I need but it has not been posted. I would like to get the build done since it has been 6 months since I started.

What would you guys suggest for a CPU, RAM, and Mobo? Normally I look toward the top of the Mid-end to High-end range.

I've been tied up in hospitals and school work so I have no idea what has come out since, I've just waited thinking something new would probably come out. I've looked around but I always find guidance to be extremely helpful.

CPU: I7-2600k

(Alternative: I5-2500k. Still 4 cores, but no hyperthreading. Approx. $100 cheaper.)

Motherboard: Asus P8Z68-V Pro. (If you can find one.) Others can recommend other worthy P67 or Z68 motherboards.

Memory: 8GB (2X4Gb) DDR3-1600 Corsair Vengeance, such as:

Newegg.com - CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B

That looks good, unfortunately NewEgg doesn't know when they will be getting more of the MoBos in stock. Might have to look somewhere else. I've never seen that ram before, does it have a good overall rep?

I also forgot to add I was looking at the ASUS Xonar D2X 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Express x1 Interface Sound Card:

Wait till Bulldozer, otherwise save some cash and go for a 965 + this mobo: ASRock > Products > 890FX Deluxe5 which supports Bulldozer so you can upgrade next year. As for RAM I'd pick anything from KIngston first like a decent 8GB HyperX kit.

I dunno about the D2X. I'm happy with my oldish DX.

I also don't know about the forthcoming AMD CPUs. I haven't built an AMD system since the Socket 939 days. AMD was the performance leader with Athlon 64, but Intel has had the lead since their Core 2 line. The price/performance for "Sandy Bridge" (second generation Core I family) components make them the thing to buy, this week, if you're looking for high-end performance. I hope that "Bulldozer" doesn't turn out to be like the 6 core AMD CPUs, which have fairly unexciting performance. (They look better since AMD cut prices, though.) If there's anything to be gained by jumping back to AMD later this summer, I'd have no hesitation in doing that.

I don't think that I would sit around waiting for Bulldozer either. It's not as if the performance will be so astounding and so utterly cheap that you would have massive buyers regret from having invested in the Core i5 Sandy Bridge. The one thing with computers is that you can always sit around and wait for the next thing. But then you are always waiting and not enjoying.
