Alan, I have one of those which I have let my wife have now. I would make two recommendations.
    1. Keep the HT Link as close to 2000 as possible
    2. Set the Nb Frequency as hig as your board will allow, better RAM performance.
I had mine up to 4.2GHz at 1.425V.
I also disabled all the C states and Cool'n'Quiet.

Looking good ganjiry! I have an i5-2550K, core temp is stupid.IBT, Prime96 will work fine for testing. I think you'd be fine with your Vcore at 1.4V and CPU/NB volts at 1.4

    Thanks Steve and Paul.

i did try 1.4 the other day but it seemed a tad hot. idle was about 40c if i remember rightly. it all seems ok so far although i havent tried bf3 yet which can play up with overclocks. i tske it u think i should up the vcore tho? im not sure what my cpu/nb voltage os at the min. i'll av a look. ive left it at auto as the only settings i changed were the multiplier, vcore, cpu/nb freq and all the usual power saving stuff.
one thing ive just noticed is aida is saying my vcore is dropping to 1.308v every now n then and so is cpu-z. what would be causing this ?

Odd, mine never lower its Vcore like that, but if it works, enjoy it, it'll be cooler. It may be a part of the Cool'n'quiet to keep temp down. yeah I had no issue with Vcore at 1.4 manually set.

    ello again
thats what confused me as cool n quiet is disabled. i dont want to raise the vcore much as i like my temps around the 35/36c mark and when i tried 1.4v the temp hit 40c.
ive set my vcore to 1.35v and cpu/nb from 1.212 to 1.225. my idle temp is 36/37c so i think i'll keep it there unless i see any signs of instability.
    thanks

I changed my settings to achieve a better overclock but still can't stablize at 4.5 ghz

    multiplyer 21 FSB 210 1.42 vcore

Ram running at 1680 Mhz might be able to squeeze more

still 4.4 is nice chap my DRAM voltage is reading higher in windows than in the bios. in the bios its 1.65v but in windows its 1.667v should i knock it down a tad in the bios or will it be ok as is?
    cheers folks

edit: that slight up of the vcore has stopped it from droppin every now n then and it also survived a few hours bf3 with no probs, max temp was 46c ingame

    Hi y'all,

Here's the results of my first venture into overclocking. I don't think I'll even try to go higher, I'm pretty stoked to get 4.275GHz out of my E8500.

Sorry about CoreTemp being in Fahrenheit, still can't relate to Celsius.
