Most people recommend disabling HT and turbo when O/Cing i7's for that very reason.
My work pc with a motherboard and fsb that apparently got a nice increase for being cheap :
Athlon64 X2 4450B overclocked from 2300 to 2872 MHz, either mobo or ntune didn't allow me to set a higher fsb
CPU-Z Validator 3.0
i7 oc'd by a guy in the overclocking team I'm in :
CPU-Z Validator 3.0
Benchmark stable at 4.2 GHz, HT enabled and watercooled.
*edit*
I'm also not going to try overclocking my pc at home again, it just doesn't like it at all
CPU-Z Validator 3.0
I'm a bit of an AMD nut, and have written several overclocking guides over the years. I currently have 9 Phenom 9850BE systems - one of them running at 3.51GHz on a 790FX/SB600 system (that wasn't supposed to even be possible, and is still a record for air cooling and SB chipset overclock) as well as this PII 940 system that held a small record for air overclock until a couple weeks ago.
Psychlone
Kinda sucky I know, but it's good at least
And my computer runs sideless as I'm to cheap to buy a decent cpu cooler and all.
