Big Cooler = Big Pressure = Big Problems (help!)

Hi

After buying my first decent CPU cooler - the Corsair A50 - I can't get it to fix onto my motherboard because the pressure is too great for the heat sink attachment thingy (sorry to be technical).

It has actually snapped it off, so my PC is presently on its side (great).

What do I need to take the load?

It is on an AM3 board, so it is attached using only the clamp (or whatever it's called).

Any help would be great.

Thanks in anticipation.

Bend the thingy so that it takes more or less pressure to attach the thingy.

If you broke the base that the thingy attaches to then you may have a whole new worry.

The aftermarket AMD coolers tend to use the OEM base plate and mounts. I'm concerned that that OEM mount has been damaged in which case the OP should check with what came with the cooler and I would bet a new base and retainer are also included and then just use that one.

Thats why I asked,if thee h50's mount got damages it's allot easier to ask for a replacement, they are very sturdy and corsair has no issues with replacing a part.

H50 mounts with it's own dedicated system which requires a new back plate, but the A50 or air cooler I believe would be a similar mount to what I show in the picture.
