Gene, I like those PCI covers. I also notice a marked difference of the Seasonic modular cables between my 600w and your 850w. I also notice the powered fan expansion card you mounted on the floor of the case in the number one HDD cage, does that keep the cables tidy or does it provide fan control or better power delivery for the fans?

Those PCI-e covers are nice. I wonder where Gene got them?

I have a hub similar, if not identical, to the one Gene has. It's just a power distribution hub that works the same as a Y cable adapter but is more sanitary looking. The one I have is fed from one of the 12v pairs of a 4 pin Molex connector and has three 3 pin fan connectors. They are normally mounted using velcro tape but I'm mounting mine on nylon stand-offs since the hub will be mounted on a surface that will be covered with sound dampening foam. The stand-offs are also more rigid, making plugging and unplugging fan cables an easier one-handed operation; it will make connecting and disconnecting the side panel fan a lot easier. Here is a link for several of them (the first 14 items on the page).

Yet another upgrade. Wasn't too happy with the EVGA so got a MSI non-reference 660 Ti. This had some coil whine (as did the EVGA but it wasn't as bad on the MSI). Replaced the Antec TP New 650W PSU with the new 2012 edition of the Seasonic X-850 and silence is heaven (even in heaven) - no more squeal. And for $120 newegg on Black Friday - what a deal!

    Great looking rig there Gene

I took a few pics of my rig since I changed the CPU and Mobo.

I must admit I didn't realise how dusty it was in there until I looked at the pics, the camera flash really shows it up Time for some cleaning on the weekend!

Thanks Alan (et al). The backside of the Fractal R3 case is pretty shallow so the flat cables made a big difference there. I think the R4 has more room back there.

The cable fan expansion is definitely for tidiness. The bottom fan + the front two are powered off of it. It is a bit flimsy though - it is held down with velcro.

Nice looking rig Paul - looks like it has great airflow. Future plans include SLI 660 Ti?

    Cheers
