    morning folks
i'll detail it a bit better now ive had a bit of sleep. ive added the position of the cards in the image.
along the bottom of the mobo are the power/oc buttons but these only raise above the pci-e slot by about 1mm which the gpu clears. there are also the headers fro usb/fan and front panel which i thought was stoppping them so i disconnected the fan and usb which seemed like it helped but it did'nt seem like the card had gone fully into the slot. it was bloody hard to get out tho.
the first card sits right ontop of the sata ports so i thought the asmedia sata port maybe in the way but that is'nt as high as the main sata's there's not enough room to get down and flick the pci-e slot lock into place either.

I don't know what to suggest bud, you would think with that mobo you could fit any 2 cards on it.

Have you got any further with it since your post this morning?

I agree Ryan, can you take some detailed pics of the cards when you try to fit them?

    ello chaps
not tried again yet, aching from yesterday lol but will have another look 2moz. the only thing it can be really is the front panel connectors and ive already took the quick connector off. so the can't get any lower. the asmedia sata port is clear as it's not being used and it isn't anymore raised than the main sata ports which the first card sits on. the only other thing it could possibly be is one of the usb headers.
i''ll have another crack 2moz and get some pics while im at it.
an online friend had the similar problem with his asus gtx560's and the same mobo but had just enough room. his bottom card covered half of the onboard power/oc buttons.

i am inpressed with the single card tho. it runs nice n cool and frame rates in some games have doubled. i just hope i get to sli em

edit: not gonna be able to do while taking pics untill the afternoon as my daughter is taking the camera on a school trip but will sort it as soon as she's bk

    ganjiry,
Well that's it you'll just have to send these back and get the water block versions and go full water cooled that way they can be side by side.

    slight problem with that lol,
    1 i can't afford too go water
2 if they were 2 slot cards i could sli 3 of em
3 cant really send em bk unless they're faulty as i would have to ship them out of the country so they could be returned. (i did'nt buy them)

gonna have a look today in some proppa light and take some pics while at it. may shed some more light on the problem.
if it does'nt go in tho i'll just have to stick with one. thats not a bad thing tho as these cards jump all over my 6950's performance

Ryan, Asus has made adjustments for thos extra thic cards, I noticed on mine with the air cooled cards the main problem was those easy connecter clips, but, they did fit in the end even if it was in slots 1 and 4. Also you can always buy aftermarket air coolers that are thinner then the ones installed, they aren't nearly as expensive as waterblocks, and are still thinner. So before you go and discard a great card, try...."tweeking" it a bit

    ello chap.
yeah i removed the quick connector as soon as i saw it would be in the way. my daughter will be home soon and it will still be daylight so i'll get in and have another crack at it. will be able to take some pics too then so may see better in the pics enit. i managed to get the card pretty much in place bar about 1mm so its got 2 be able to fit. i can't use slot 4 as the space between the slot and my psu is not quite enough either lol. i'll suss somethin tho
