For more wood choices... Native Lumber& Sawmill
Ash, a light colored and strong wood.
English walnut, has the grain pattern of black walnut but much lighter in coler.
Hackberry, strong and relatively stable.

Whatever your choice make sure it is well dried and seasoned befor cutting. After assembly put a good finish on all sides, inner and outer to keep warping and shrinkage to a minumum.

Absolutely mate the stuff I quoted the Huon in particular can only be harvested from trees that are dead and gone so they will be well seasoned and as they are rot proof. As a matter of trivia these trees can be two thousand five hundred years old and on average are a 1000 years old. So on that account the growth rings are so very fine and hence why it is so easy to work. The colour is something to behold.

Anyway there lots of beautiful timbers out there only problem is with some the weight of the stuff is sometimes a limiting factor and along with cost of course. .

Firstly, I forgot to thank maguscreed for that link to the wood laptop earlier, I'm just Reading it, thank you, very interesting!

And as for the heatpipe, it's just a convection current principle!

Now for the wood...!! I just don't know! I like the huon pin but it may be a little expensive, I'll still look into it. I'll do some research, I need to consider aesthetics, weight, properties of the wood and cost. And don't worry, I've got some extremely good timber sources . I'll make sure it's properly dried.
