That was a good read, I even read the comments at the bottom like this one How Calibrating My CPU Core Temps With Real Temp Saved My Sanity

My favorite part was this "I started to wonder if I needed to put the case on it’s side to make a better contact with the CPU heatsink and the CPU itself. Which after due diligence in using some Google-Fu it was entirely a possibility"

Sometimes when I use some Google-Fu I start thinking of some crazy ideas too.

I read on the ROG forums that the AI Suite read Tcase. It either does or is way way off. It can give temps 20 - 30° lower than core temp, real temp or any other program.
After an early BIOS firmware release the ASUS /ASUS BIOS vendor started to report CPU temps more aligned with Tcase. As far as I could see they gave no advice about this and I guess the figure is an estimate. What they didn't do is change their fan speed control curves!!!
I would have thought ultimately temperatures at the silicon substrate level (PN junctions etc) was a key parameter. As I understand it you have thermal conductors within the CPU device case then case to a cooling device using a thermal paste.
I cannot understand why reporting accurate internal temperatures should be an issue.
